In a new interview with GameTrailers, ArenaNet‘s Mike Zadorojny talks about the Fields of Ruin zone in Guild Wars 2.
The Fields of Ruin is a level 30-40 zone in southern Ascalon, where the Humans and Charr have been fighting for over two centuries. It features the bastion city of Ebonhawke, which players can learn about through various points in the city and conversations with NPCs.
The players’ task is to try and broker a lasting piece between the two warring factions. Of course, not everyone is willing to, ahem, “give peace a chance,” as both races have their own splinter factions — the Separatists for the Humans and the Renegades for the Charr — who will look to sabotage any attempts at a cease-fire.
Humans and Charr aren’t the only foes, however. Ogres are trying to establish a foothold in the blasted land, and there are bands of harpies and the dragonbrand to deal with as well. Zadorojny also makes reference to a “hidden monument” — and if that’s not a shout-out to lore-loving Guild Wars players, we don’t know what is.
