ArenaNet Breaks Down HoM Achievements In Guild Wars

Some of us — not me, obviously — have sorely neglected our Hall of Monuments achievements in Guild Wars, while others have recently picked up the game in anticipation of Guild Wars 2.

So what’s the Hall of Monuments thing everyone keeps asking about? ArenaNet‘s John Stumme breaks it down for the newbies, as well as the hapless veterans — again, definitely not me! — in a recent blog post that describes a few relatively easy ways to earn perks in Guild Wars 2, as well as a glimpse at what some of those perks are in a video.

For the noobs (unlike me), you’ll need to get to the Eye of the North — which I did totally on my own without any help — in the expansion of the same name, which will also require you to own one of the campaign packs, easily acquired through purchase of the new Guild Wars Platinum Edition.

For a more in-depth look at what it takes to score HoM achievements, we recommend the excellent guide on the Guild Wars wiki, and you can keep track of your progress on the Guild Wars website.

The rewards include armor pieces, weapons, mini-pets, and more that can be used in Guild Wars 2. Probably my favorite of the ones revealed in Stumme’s video is the Icebreaker, a hammer with a head made of, well, ice.

OK, the undead chicken is cool, too. But how does it taste?

And just for clarification, the Orrian Baby Chicken is a mini-pet not a Ranger pet.

How are you only at 3 Jason? You should have at least another point for dedicating one mini-pet since you have an old account and would have gotten mini-pets as the veterans reward.

    I Totally Agree. GWAMM is a “much bigger deal” than 50/50. There should be something big in GW2 for those folks with that title. Hats off to you both.

  At the same tier you do get a Black Moa which IS a ranger pet.
  
  You can be at 3 despite having those because you have to go to the Eye to dedicate all the stuff and before you can dedicate the stuff you need the tapestry.

I’m at 29/50. Going to obviously reach the 30 pts no problem. Just trying to get as many as I can. I’d love to get to 50 pts, but I doubt that will happen.

A couple of months ago I “resurrected” my Elementailist who had only cleared all normal Prophecies missions and had maybe one or two elites. In the grand scheme of things, I can’t kill shit with him in EOTN and gave up after a couple of play sessions. I only did the intro quest until unlocking the place with the Hall of Monuments.

  If you got to hall of monuments, all you needed to do was click on the honor statue, and it would have given you an option to show statues for things like completing the prophesies campaign, which would have given you 2 points(for the first honor statue). So you should be at 5/50 with just that.

I’m at 10 points and have reached the Fiery Dragon Sword, wich is a kinda iconic weapon for guild wars, so I am happy with it, but I can still see myself squeezing a few more points in the days that are left before launch.

I was at 47/50 when the HoM release, but I had completed pretty much everything in-game except for PvP. All I needed was to add an armor set and some minis I already had then work on getting one more Tormented weapon which I got a couple of days later. Got 2 accounts that I got to 30/50 each. Getting to 30 is really not hard, not sure why more people don’t have it

Arena Net really could take a few hints from Red 5 Studios or even Trion about making “video blogs”. They always look so nerdy and awkward. This one does beat the sight of Eric and Colin wearing shorts in front of a white background, but only barely. That scripted laugh at 1:55 was painful to watch.

I earned 12 HoM points before the calculator came out. Sadly, I haven’t earned any achievements since then. I do kind of want the Orrian chicken, though.

30/50 Could easily get 35/50 if I wasn’t lazy and cared about titles. If I put some extra effort I know I could hit 40/50 in a few weeks worth of my playing/grinding but i’ts not worth it to me unless you get something more than a Title (although 40 is the flame seeker title which is the coolest imo). GWAMM never meant anything to me either because there was nothing awesome that comes with that much effort. The pay off has to be huge for that kind of dedication and investment, and it just wasn’t that big of a deal for me. But it will be cool to have those nostalgic items in GW2 so I do give Anet kudos for that!

I’ve got 32/50 and for the unofficial Over/Under I’m gonna say Jason gets 10/50. Surely he’s gotta at least get the fiery dragon sword. One of my friends started playing just for HoM rewards even though he didn’t like the game and got 10 points.

I stopt at 30/50 I just “had” to have the Ice Breaker (going play Norm Guardian and that hammer looks soooo cool)

Jason maybe get 15/50… But if u have friends and lvl 20 in GW u can get to 30pt in 3 days (how i did).
