If you haven’t given APB Reloaded a try in a while, now’s the perfect time to get back into the run-’n'-gun action.

GamersFirst and Reloaded Productions have released version 1.7 of the game, New Breed Part 1, which brings a host of new items and features to the dangerous streets of San Paro.

There’s the usual assortment of new weapons and mods, along with new contacts, clothing sets and vehicle kits, as well as several changes and additions to the game’s conflict zones.

And if you’re tired of not being able to spring while lugging that light machine gun or other heavy weapon around, rejoice! You can now do so, albeit at a lower speed.

Finally, weekly challenges have been added to the Fight Club zones, letting players duke it out on the two existing maps for greater rewards.

GamersFirst has recently re-launched the APB Developer’s Blog, and you can get the lowdown on all of 1.7′s features here, here, and here, or read the full patch notes on the forums.

See you in San Paro!

oh man APB.  I loved that game to death for the month, and then it died.  I reinstalled once it got revived, but I haven’t really played cause my friends that I used to play with didn’t wanna play any more.  Also sucked having lost all the progression I had unlocked which was nearly everything…

Holy crap?! Where have I been to not know that y’all play APB. I had fun with it after the reboot but since I have no friends I got sad.

I’m with you on running dudes down in the mikro, it’s real fun. Patch is only like 450mb though, I’ve just started getting back into the game, it’s nice to see it finally getting some love from their tiny dev team. New clothes and Faction vehicles are supposed to drop on the marketplace today too. Bound to be unreasonably expensive, but what can you do. If you like deep customization or just being a filthy griefer you should play this game. So much fodder for griefing it’s amazing…

If anyone from the east coast wants to play shoot Zulle a friend request on Joker US.

APB is the sort of game which would really benefit from having clan recruitment fully build into the game, as needing to head to an external forum on the Web to find a fun envrionment puts many people off as they simply can’t be bothered to go through that effort for a game which they can’t see any fun coming from.

Apb is a very fun and addictive game. It’s action oriented; nothing better than an 8v8 firefight with cars exploding and bullets whipping past your char. The team based co-op play is engaging and most of the time i did not want to stop playing. The news of this update really makes me want to download it again but i already know what is in store for me.

The probs. Apb is very much pay to win. Going up against golds with fully modded weapons isn’t fun. It just sucks. I don’t expect to win every time but when you get a few games in a row like this it quickly loses its fun factor.

New players will find that there isn’t very much direction or help for them to become better at the game. There were many things i had to look up on the internet that the game either didn’t tell me, or i did not notice. This may have changed with the patch, but i remember it was very frustrating.

Playing a crim i vaguely recalled watching a short loading screen comment about ramming but could not remember what it said to do. You would imagine that this would be a simple tool-tip, but i had to google it. After i figured that out i was ambushed by an enforcer while ramming, having no idea that they could steal all of my money. This may seem trivial but this crap can turn a new player off very quickly, especially when it appears that half the time you don’t know what the hell is going on or what you should be doing.

Botting. This game has a problem with bots. Google apb aim bot and you’ll quickly receive thousands of results. Videos, articles, and downloads. I understand that there are not many dev dollars behind this, but just like being fodder for golds, this will eventually be a turn off. I would hope they addressed this in the patch. Nothing quite like seeing that snapping every few games. :)

The community. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many insults hurled my way for just playing a game. I’m a bot, I’m a *****, I’m a d-bag, I’m a B, I’m a B, I’m a, I’m a, I’m a B. This may be common in many online games, (and I’ve been around the block) but honestly I’ve never seen trolls with the epic status that they have on apb.

All that set aside apb is fun. I played it every week or two for about six months. In the end though i realized that unless i slapped some money down i would never be able to reach my full potential. Not to say you can’t beat some golds, or bots, but you’ll always be at a disadvantage. Fun game to start up and drive around and shoot things, but unless you have some money to spend, you’ll always be at the bottom of the totem pole.
