This Just In! The Guild Wars 2 team have just posted that they will be conducting a stress test. See below for details.

We will be conducting a stress test on Thursday, August 2 from 12:00 Noon PACIFIC Time to 4:00 PM PACIFIC Time.

Unlike previous stress tests, we will be actively working on the game during the event, so you might experience connectivity problems or discover features that are not working as designed. Any issues you experience are a result of the rigorous conditions of the stress test, and are in no way representative of the state of the game at launch. By participating in this stress test, you’re helping us make Guild Wars 2 a better game. Thanks for your cooperation—we’ll see you in-game! ~RB2

It’s like they KNOW every time I have an odd mid day schedule and schedule their stress tests on those days! I’ll be missing this midday stress test again

Kind of weird, announcing a stress test last minute, and having it on a weekday from 12pm to 4pm.

I don’t think a lot of people will be participating. So what’s the point?

  All their other stress tests have been on weekdays at the same time period, posted with more advanced notice sure, but when they are applying fixes to the game and want to test them why not use the free labor of a rabid fan base to test said fixes. I’ll be using it to lock down my character sliders, so I won’t be much help to them lol.

      How is the truth trolling ?? I checked GBTV seen the news than check the GW2 website & twitter and it was maybe 6 minutes since it was announced. Nothing wrong, but its kinda funny how with the snap of a finger it pops up.
      
      but anything other from LoL, Dota2, SWTOR, WoW, Rift any other game news there seems to be no effort to get there good news out like snapping your finger unless its controversial.

  It’s only a valid conspiracy theory if you can suggest how one of the parties might benefit from the coincidence. Otherwise it’s just “two things that happen on the same date”, and there are lots of those about.

    I don’t mean access to more areas, but I think we’ll see more recipes, more items and armor models being sold by vendors (far too many were only selling bread in BWE3), more items at the gem shop, more hairstyles (especially for the Asura), and possibly some new (minor) events.
    
    I also hope that at least some of the movies from vistas have been changed; most were really bland and often worse than the view you had from the place where you triggered them. The ones in Divinity’s Reach were pretty good, but the rest, meh…
    
    The things I would really like to see, though, are more camera options (FoV, height, mouse lock) and a way to reorder the weapon skills (for each combination). It’s really annoying when you switch weapon or attunement and get very similar skills in different positions.

      Heh it seems we were both wrong. There were apparently new jumping puzzles.
      
      The strangest thing I found missing from the gem shop was a character slot item. Maybe I was just looking in the wrong place. It was definitely not in the bank/bag slot tab. Maybe it will just ask if you want to buy an extra slot if you try to create a new character with all slots used.
      
      As for other things I would expect more costumes but not much else. The system requirements mention 25GB but so far the .dat is only around 15GB.

        I didn’t say anything about jumping puzzles. There were already some places where you could climb but with nothing at the top in BWE3, so I’m sure they’re still adding chests, etc..
        
        But I definitely expected to see more stuff at the gem shop and less vendors selling a single item. I wonder if they changed the gem shop significantly, ran into some bug (which was why it didn’t work during the first hour), and they just reverted back to the old one.
        
        The character slots weren’t there at all. There was a post in the forums during BWE3 saying that extra character slots and guesting weren’t enabled yet.

        I mean it turns out there was new content but not the kind that either of us was expecting and I agree about the bread thing. The Sylvari had an equivalent but it wasn’t bread, I forgot what they Sylvari karma vendors were selling.
