Fans of Meteor Entertainment‘s upcoming ‘mech action game Hawken got an unexpected bonus over the weekend, as Warner Bros. announced that it had secured the rights to produce a web series based on the game. The series will be produced by Copper Media, a division of Silver Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and DJ2 Entertainment.
With over 300,000 people signed up for the Hawken beta test, there’s definitely interest in the game and its related universe. There’s no word on the format the web series will take, but if it’s anything like this brief live-action video, we’ll be happy. According to the press release, “Initial plans for the web series will take fans through crucial events that spawn this grim fight for survival.”
Hawken launches Dec. 12 and will be playable via the Gaikai platform, a cloud streaming game service accessible by PCs, Macs, Facebook, and tablet devices.
