Huge WoW Sale!

In preparation for patch 5.2, the entire of World of Warcraft has had its price slashed by up to 70%! Blizzard posted earlier today on the EU forums regarding this WoW sale:

The Thunder King’s return looms on the horizon, and to prepare for the storm, Blizzard has just slashed prices on all World of Warcraft games by up to 70%! Now is the time to recruit your friends to begin their epic quest in Azeroth. But hurry-this deal ends February 25.

Price in pound sterling is £4 for Battle Chest, £6 for Cataclysm and £15 for Mists of Pandaria.

The US WoW sale offers the Battle Chest for $5, Cataclysm for $10, and Mists of Pandaria for $20. US players can get either the boxed version or the digital version for this price, not including shipping.

Players in the EU are getting the short straw here, if they want a box and disc version of any of the WoW sale items, as, unfortunately, physical products are currently unavailable from the EU Blizzard Store. If it’s boxed versions you’re after, as opposed to digital downloads, and you’re EU-based, then the US Blizzard Store or a third party retailer is your only option. If you choose to buy from Blizzard’s US Store, do take care to check that the game or expansion you’re buying can be played in your region.

Do remember that the Battle Chest now includes Wrath of the Lich King, as well as a month’s free game time, and that all races can now be played by all players, regardless of whether or not they have the expansions that introduced them, so if you want to play a Worgen, Goblin or a Pandaren, you can do so with just the Battle Chest. This is also an excellent choice for anyone seeking the Recruit-a-Friend XP bonuses or newly added mount.

This blowout sale must end February 25th, adding weight to the assertions that patch 5.2 will launch February 26th. Do check out our guide to getting ready for patch 5.2! Is this Blizz hoping to regain lost subs?!

They usually have these kinds of sales a couple times a year from what I remember. Still, if you don’t have the game and are thinking of playing, it’s a great deal.

Bleeding subs at a faster rate now than they did after Cataclysm launched. They need price drops to get more sheeple to fatten the thinning herd

They are not quite coming to the point where they gave latest expansion away like in Cata… But getting there.

I talked about this few days ago.  4 years back Blizzard was charging close to 100$ for WOW and the expansions.  F2P has changed the market abit – but IF WOW was still the same quality .. they would still be holding on to much more of the players that already bought the game and have stayed with it for years.  Those ppl are leaving in big numbers atm and for me the main reason is because BLizzard is removing the RPG elements of the game.   Players have no real choices anymore.  Its themepark in a slow riding “roller”coaster.

  • Fursnake

The perfect gift to tell him or her that you don’t want to spend quality time with them.

    • ReAlIzEr

I actually gave WoW as a gift and it help bring friends and family together, and we even met new friends from the area and all over North America.   Its all in how you approach it and decide to spend your time.

  • ReAlIzEr

Yes it is Blizzard trying to get subs – its just business and you would do the same in their position.  Making money is part of business even if your making & maintaining the current game(s) you provide and play yourself specially if it is your personal life’s work.

With most of their sales coming from digital downloads I bet they are racking in the cash since they are able to avoid the cost of boxing / manuals / disk / production time / errors / etc…  I bet they push the deal 2-3 more times this year to match key holiday sale markets.

And since most people will sub for at least a 1-3 months they are looking at another $50 bucks in the pocket per sub.  Heck, I spend $50 bucks in one sitting at the movie theater these days (3D IMAX) and most of the movies are not really worth it, but the chairs are nice.

…ok, u say this is a great deal…well I say NO. Why??? well its not about buying a game, its more about paying to play same game over and over and over. If u ask me what Blizz is doing is totaly wrong, they need to go for B2P model and selling in-game cosmetics…just like GW2. I dont have a real feeling for any of this “digital copy” shit if I didnt bought the game in store, all this F2P…sry I dont like it, but this WoW model is total crap, they sell u all for 35$ then u gona give 40$ for 2 months so u can actualy play the game that u alrdy bought…thats CRAP. And i totaly agree with Deadalon…they r totaly removed RPG from WoW, there is no more fun, PVP sucks cose its all about arenas, and BGs and when u go in there is only CC shit…give back open world PvP back, give back old rules if u play horde, then u can not have ally alts on same battle group, remove that  Normal, PvP and RPG servers…whats that crap? ofc u can do RPG thing, ofc u can go out and do some quests, ofc if u go out there u can be ganked but again u can go out and do the same, why even trying to separate this things, they need to be one thing. after 5-6 years of playing WoW I just, simply gived up…cose u have no connection to your character, u have no will to play it cose all this changes…I remember how fun we had, I was into that druid/night elf thing and it was great, somehow u had a feeling for story and all…now its gone. And yes plzz if anyone from Blliz will ever read this just say to Chris Metzen that he needs to stop writing a story/lore…just f…. stop, look what u did with Malfurion, look what u did Jaina and above all look what u did with Thrall. 1st one …u had him into Emeral dream for years cose u didnt know what to do with him…well BRAVO u did great job with his comeback, lets him stay in Darkshore for next 5 years doing that Cyclone, I dont know how to translate “lujka” to english but thats what u did with Jaina, and omg Thrall…the greatest Shaman in Azeroth is now a total JOKE…well done Chris, well done Blizz
There is no “WoW Killer” games out there…one and only a true WoW KIllier is Bllizard!

    • ReAlIzEr

Sounds like you dedicated yourself to this game hardcore, but if you lost all that greatness for the game, are you sure it was the game and the makers of the game and not you simply changing your interest in life?  I agree that some of the story, pvp &  gameplay maybe/is lacking but, with time comes change and if you don’t change with it, your going to loose interest.

  • Lynx Raven Raide

Buy the game for cheap… and still pay the monthly $15 sub which effectively makes it a $360 per expansion game*…*yes, I know there are cheaper sub deals, and this is going by a 2 year expansion cycle, so dont pick me for it

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

blizz gave me for free classic+tbc+wotlk, I don’t understand why they sell is, it should be free you still play sub fee.
