Leaked Destiny Preorder Information

Stop the presses. Leaked Destiny Preorder Information is out in the open!

For those that are avid followers of GAMEBREAKER you might have noticed our great overlord, The Gannonator, dropping hints about a certain title being announced on SUNDAY. Heck you might even have paid attention to an article that we posted out yesterday detailing a little game called DESTINY.

Well, in true gaming industry fashion, we have the first LEAKS appearing just days before Bungie’s yet-to-be-announced game is even out in the open.

That’s right folks, Bungie’s super secret project that has been in the works for the past 6 years has had some of the shroud surrounding it, removed and we certainly have alot more insight into the game than we did yesterday. Who’s the mastermind behind the leak? Well when we were first talking about it here at Gamebreaker, we all jumped on the Game Stop Band wagon. How brash of us. We also know that the worlds media has had its chance to check out Destiny for itself over the past few days, but they’re under an extremly strict embargo, so surely it wasn’t them?
Nope; Turns out we were all wrong and these leaked images are infact coming from an underpaid Best Buy employee that clearly just wants to irritate his bosses.

So what do we know about the game from these leaks?

Actually there is a ton of information to be had. What you need to know is that these images are of PRE ORDER materials, so these are the things being handed out to stores world wide in preparation of the games announcement on Sunday, February 17th.

So the first thing we get from it; The game is launching THIS year. This came as a little surprise to myself as there was no info provided about the title in the Activision Blizzard Q4 earnings call.  On the back of one of the images of one of the pre-order cards, the offer on the card apparently expires on December 31st, 2013. Now although it doesn’t give an exact date, it does show that the timeline that was included in the 2010 Activision court case documents more or less still stands, having stated that a game should be released in 2013, with sequels following it up every 2 years up to 2019.

Next on the list: Destiny is CONFIRMED for Xbox 360 and PS3. Again referring back to the image of the back of one of the preorder cards, there are distinct bar codes for preorders on both the Xbox 360 and PS3, which means that this game will certainly be launching on both platforms instead of my own earlier prediction of it falling to 2014 and the next generation of consoles. Media outlet Destructoid have a picture of the image we refer to right here

The third point of interest that people might be interested to know; Destiny IS an MMO. I know right? This had me by surprise the most, but then all signals have always pointed towards this. One of the images is of a small promotional leaflet that states that Destiny is;
The next evolution of entertainment – an incredible story set within a newly imagined, always-connected universe”
The next section goes on to say
Create your character, forge your legend by defeating powerful foes and earn unique and customizable weapons, gear and vehicles”.

So, what? What does that mean? Well more or less this info pretty much confirms that Destiny is an MMO. Bold statement but follow me on this; Those statements carry all the traits of what we generally understand an MMO to be. We know also from the text (which you can see for yourself below!) the game is a FPS. I’m jumping on the boat of saying that being an MMO the style is going to be very similar to what Planetside 2 and Dust 514 are doing, except on a slightly grander scale. I’m thinking a single hub world that you log into and then set out to explore the rest of the world that has been ravaged by the new “horrors” that inhabit what was once our world. I’m also thinking some of those foes won’t be beaten alone and that’s where teams like a traditional raid group may be formed in order to take them down (Think Borderlands 2 raid bosses!).

Finally, alongside some small story details that confirm everything we already knew, we’ve also got our first look at a type of four eyed alien species that will be in the game, curtosy of some promotional posters that will be out on display soon! Wether these are related to our Alien safe guard “The Traveler” or something yet more menacing….well its yet to be seen!

So that about all we have at the moment on the Destiny leak, but by god has it made us excited once more. You can check out all of the leaked destiny preorder images below and be sure to checkin with us here at GAMEBREAKER on Sunday, February 17th as we bring you all the news and info from Bungie’s official reveal of Destiny.

2 comments on this, 1. I am not 100% convinced that this will be an MMO in the same vain that we are all used too (perhaps this is because I don’t consider games like PS2 to be MMO, but rather Multiplayer Battlegrounds on large scale). 2. I’m extremely excited for Sunday because from what it looks like this is going to be massive AND on consoles! If they pull this crazy idea off where all platforms can enjoy this game AND be in an environment of an MMO or PS2 sized battlegrounds I will be extremely impressed. Only time will tell

umm sorry, but no.. PS2 is very much an MMO.. it’s massive multiplayer online.   PS2 fits this better then some of the current MMOs.   (ie. the phasing crap where you only see 50 to 100 people in an instance. swtor/STO).

what you’re trying to say, is it doesn’t feel RPGy like what you’ve been use to all these years..   The main reason for this is that PS2 is an MMOFPS..

      • arenasb

Right. It’s an MMOFPS (well allegedly, won’t know for sure til presumably Sunday) like PS2 is an mmofps. People are just used to RPG mechanics in their mmos.

Gary got it right with the FPSMMO.  Curious that its on current gen consoles and not next gens.

Next gens are not announced  for all we truly truly know is that it will be 2014 for 720ps4, o even the fact the $$ of them is $700+ so likely to be a very slow start for them

The PS4 is being announced on Feb 20, 2013 at the huge sony event in new york. The PS4 will have a 2013 release and the XBOX will be very close behind. It has be reported on may different game sites that the price point they are shooting for is under $450 based on the hardware they are putting into the consoles. Also This would be an amazing launch title for a next gen console and i would bet dollar’s to donuts that is there plan.

I think one thing people are forgetting is that just because it is going to be on current gen consoles does not rule out it also coming out on next gen consoles.

    • http://twitter.com/JuhTai James Megretton

Already confirmed for next generation consoles and potentially beyond, depending on the next cycle of consoles. 2015 is the next release :)

Must be a bitch to write an article on a leak that you are currently holding all the info on. Now you have to report all that stuff on the floor without accidentally saying something about what still in your bucket.

    spoiler: it’s a shooty game…..with guns.

    Destiny = Titan??

    • http://twitter.com/JuhTai James Megretton

No…Just because Blizzard have joined Activision, does not mean such things. Destiny was long in the works before any deal with Activision was made.Circa 2007.

  • Hicks64

I’m still thinking it’s not an MMO. No mention of playing with hundreds of players, just “cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/adam.m.kistler Adam M. Kistler

    Activision?

    NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOPE

  • http://twitter.com/sethmiller17 sethmiller

“Cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes” odd way of saying MMO, no?

  • jason baesel

I wonder if it’s going to be like Phantasy Star Online.

  • http://twitter.com/LiamRdsn Liam Richardson

If it’s an mmo how will people converse via console?

    • http://www.facebook.com/justin.mako.73 Justin Mako

Through voice chat i would imagine. I bet the next gen consoles, that this game will mostly be played on with have much better voice chat capabilities than the current ones that are horrible.

  • http://www.facebook.com/anton.eriksson.39 Anton Eriksson

well this sucks why not release on PC for a change? you can’t play a Mmo with a shity controler

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1260066056 Steven Diaz

DCUO, Defiance, and Firefall are all examples of MMOs that play well with a controller.  However, I agree that it should also be on PC.  There’s no real downside if it is an MMO, it’s not like it can be hacked.  Nowhere to go but up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1260066056 Steven Diaz

This doesn’t sound like an MMO, not in the traditional sense.  Sequels every two years after?  Just sounds like a massive game, perhaps a-la Skyrim and the reason it took 6 years is because they were developing assets and fixing engine troubles and so forth, in order to make it easier to develop on a consistent two year cycle.

    • Krzysztof Kotarba

it’s FPS, so you can play that on console… it’s retarded to play FPS on gamepad but still people play that way. TBH I’m not interested in Destiny, sci-fi shooter… meh I would like to see cross platform as we know cross platform pc console will neve happend because rookie with mouse will pwn all “masters” in console FPS, but ps3xbox cross platform would work.

(btw the best proof PC dominate in FPS is that valve dropped cross platform fro CS:GO)

  • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Doesn’t sound like an MMO, looks like a console shooter.  Very unlikely the XBox 360 and PS3 can play in the same matches.

  • Revanhavoc

I’m still not convinced it’s an MMO in the traditional sense.

MAG was a disaster. PS2 could never run on an XBOX 360.

The only way I could have seen an MMO in the tradtional sense of persistent world and hundreds if not thousands of players simultaneously affecting the world, would have been if we were talking XBOX 720 release.

Now I’m thinking shooter with heavy multiplayer elements, singleplayer merges with multiplayer, and deathmatch style areas for PvP.

Maybe we are dancing around defining MMO at this point,

  • Ravenstorm

I was getting all exited for this and then read it’s for consoles. Then my mouth spawned some curses I didn’t know before. Why oh why didn’t I take the blue pill.
Mhmmmm no. Why oh why wasn’t it a pc game. My bad. But still a comparable feeling.

  • http://www.facebook.com/spankthismonkey Thomas Vu

an MMO for the PC, PS3, and XBOX 360?  I smell incoming failure

    • Ducky Tomahawk

Nothing has been said about PC, the game is a console shooter.

  • Ducky Tomahawk

You guys Bunge themselves say this is not an MMO. I understand that this is an old page, but the commenters are still referring to this as an MMO which it is not.
