The Halloween Special Event Revealed: Mad King Cinematic

The Guild Wars 2 Halloween festivities continue to unfold with only the fourth act yet to be revealed. Yesterday, ArenaNet urged everyone to visit Lion’s Arch at 12:00 PDT for a special one-time event. Many fans were dismayed that they would miss whatever surprise they were cooking up because of time zone differences or busy schedules. It turns out there wasn’t much cause for panic because the event was a rather short cutscene of the Mad King smashing through the fountain in Lion’s Arch. After the spooky cinematic, players were treated to a 5-person (though it is soloable) mini-dungeon to defeat the Mad King. This encounter will remain open until act four begins on Halloween, so you still have time to experience the thrill of slaughtering the pumpkin-headed menace.

I teamed up with ZAM’s Scott Hawkes and GBTV’s Jason Winter to take out the malicious Mad King Thorn. To experience our high levels of coordination and strategy, don’t miss this video!

I was there for the cinematic. Moments before the server’s were lagging like crazy and then the lag went and BOOM. Actually startled me.

Weird. I was there for the even, but Mad King Thorn never actually came out of the hole. It just burst open and had some cool camera angles.

You can still see him pop out from time to time. Not as a cinematic but almost like how an event starts. Scared the crap out of me when I saw it lol.

Heh, I like the Hurricane Sandy error I get for the video ) Thanks for posting what is hopefully a quality video of the cinematic.

And I’m certainly going to check out the video of you guys fighting Mad King Thorn and see if Scott is as much a guardian-master as he claims. Are there still plans for a Guildcast dungeon video?
