First Marvel Heroes MMO Dev Diary

Gazillion Entertainment has released its first video developer diary for its upcoming Marvel Heroes MMO, hosted by Gazillion President CEO David Brevik, who previously worked on the first two Diablo games.

To look at the snippets of gameplay for Marvel Heroes, Diablo fans will feel right at home, with a three-quarter view, action combat, and what appears to be a seven-button hotbar.

One of the elements of the game that some players might find off-putting — that you’ll be playing as Marvel’s heroes rather than creating your own — is instead touted as a strength, as Brevik says that working with established characters provides better relationships and storylines.

It’s not just the characters, either, as players will be able to visit several of the iconic locations of the Marvel Universe, such as the Savage Land and Hell’s Kitchen.

And, of course, there will be costumes, which Brevik talks up as being the coolest things ever. Hmm, I wonder what will be in the cash shop?

If you’re heading to San Diego Comic-Con, you can be among the first to get hands-on time with Marvel Heroes, over at booth #2329. You can also hear from Brevik himself at the Marvel Games Panel at 1:45pm on Saturday, July 14 in Room 6A, where he’ll be introducing new characters and game content.

Hasten thee to San Diego, true believers!

I kind of agree with the character development bit, it helps a story when you have an already existing background to draw from. Making your own characters would make it less of a Marvel MMO and more of a super hero MMO. It helps it keep it’s identity.

Honestly the game looks pretty awesome so far to me. Can’t wait to give it a try.

Free to play? Why would you not try this? Seriously, though, I think it will be worth a shot.  Personally, I really don’t think that asking for people to buy the box/client is to much to ask but I won’t argue with them not doing it. ;)
