Many people are excited about TERA.

A good portion of those looking forward to this action-MMO have already pre-ordered and played in the beta. However, if you are still on the fence about the game, here is your chance to try it.

On April 20 through 23rd, En Masse is hosting an open-beta weekend. Players that participate in this event will start on the Island of Dawn and learn quickly the importance of skill-based combat versus stat-based combat. Who needs all that crazy math stuff anyway?

Beta starts promptly at noon PDT on the 20th. To start your account, hop over to the En Masse account page, use the code “TERABETA,” download the game, then start to play. Beta ends on Monday the 23rd at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

If you like it, be sure to catch TERA when it launches on May 1st.

    SOOOO SUPER EXCITED!! :D
    No sleep this weekend!

hm so if I read the full patch notes they just released correctly, we start the game as a lvl 20 of our class, help with the establishment of the bases on the Island of Dawn, then once that’s done, we turn into the lvl 1 n00b version of our class to go through the colorful Isle of Dawn like we normally did in previous betas?  They’ve also relocated some of the npcs on Isle of Dawn to streamline experience, but no mention of maybe tweaking/removing quests that might be redundant to the experience in the new playable prologue portion (as far as about teaching you game mechanics)…well…we’ll find out tomorrow.  Still super excited.

Best MMO to come out during 2012.  Too bad it comes out during the same time as games released by massive big name publishers like NCSoft with GW2 and Blizzard with Diablo 3 and WoW.

    • Lycronis

If the game is good, what do the other titles have to do with it? It will either stand on it’s own and do well, or it won’t. Those other games will have little to do with it in the long run. And I’ll go ahead and disagree with you on the best MMO releasing this year part. ;)

    • ChristopherMitchell1

Sure, keep telling yourself that and maybe it will come true :D

      Pffffffffffffff
I really don’t know how you do it
how could you keep living a lie. Tera issent that good as you say it is
it keeps you entertained for 2-4 months like swotr and becoms a drag.

Anyway enjoy the game we will hear later of you here on the blog, when it finally released
and the game is a few months old how disapointed you have become about the game.

      • Sharuko

The only game that will become a “drag” is GW2 because it has zero end game content.  It is amazing that an MMO is launching in late 2012 with 8 dungeons overall.  That is shocking.

It reminds me a lot of SWTOR, but SWTOR had more end game content at launch.

Like i said before enjoy, ill be doing epic stuff from the begining (lvl-1) while you need to grind first to 80 then grind for gear, find the right ppl and classes, mby do some grindy prequests and then finaly afther 4 – 5 months you can start raiding if you arent already grown bored by the game

ohh and dont forget to mention that GW2 has over 1500 dynamic event and there adding DE as we speak, some of them are designed for atleast 100ppl to frealy join without the grind to get to max lvl or to get the right gear.

        • andrew rowe

If you like grinding mobs dressed as a little elf girl its up to you i guess.

If it’s the best MMO to come out during 2012 it’s the Gw2, Diablo3 and MOP tha have to be worried right?

      • Sharuko

Unfortunately, En Masse is a extremely small company.  The Activision Blizzard and NCSoft’s of the world will try to crush smaller games under their weight.

        • snikendelarveføtter

Again you are making up numbers in your head. If you havent noticed, the gw2 community has even been asking for marketing of the game, because it has been done in such a small scale. Do you know how much marketing 20-30 million $ gets you? Gw2 would have been having tv-commercials worldwide (for a long time) on that budget, but most (almost all) their marketing is done by the community.

    • BabyChooChoo

I like how you called it the best MMO to come out this year and not only has it not even been released yet, it’s still the first half of the year, and none of it’s competition has seen the light of day yet.

That’s…that’s…that’s great…I guess. Yeah. GotY. Put it on the box.

      • Sharuko

I wouldn’t go as far as calling Tera, GotY like you did.  But best MMO in 2012?  Probably.

        • snikendelarveføtter

What you should learn to do is add the fact that its your preference, and not something carved in stone, when you take part in discussions online. That way you don’t come across as someone with a “know-it-all” attitude.

So your sentence “Best MMO to come out during 2012″ could be “the mmo i think i will enjoy the most in 2012″

That should save you from the “angry mob” (like me), and it saves all of us from having meaningless discussions over what THE best game is.

          Just a tip.

          • Sharuko

It is not my preference, it will be the popular opinion when the average player starts playing GW2.

          • snikendelarveføtter

You are simply incredible. Since when was your personal opinion the popular opinion. Out of every1 i have talked to or listened to on youtube, that have had experience with both games, not one of them share your view.

Oh i completly forgot, you are the judge and jury when it comes to what people like and dislike right?

I’m gonna let you live in your little bubble, but i expect you to eat your words in a few months time, although i seriously doubt you have what it takes to admit it when you are wrong.

STOP LIKING THINGS I DON’T LIKE

  • jazzbrownie

I downloaded the beta client to try it out… maybe it’ll help out with my GW2 itch for the next week or so.  After playing that, nothing else feels worth my time right now.

  • http://twitter.com/Silveryfox5 Larissa Sheridan

For people who pre-ordered TERA, the game really starts tomorrow! Can’t wait!!  :-)

  • http://twitter.com/Hengman14 Chettra Heng

TERA is a pretty fun game, but I just can’t bring myself to pay for a subscription for ANY game with Guild Wars 2 being released soon.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jonathan-Reyna/1830988318 Jonathan Reyna

OBT starts tomorrow at noon for preorders not for anyone else. You can even see it on your client. OBT starts 20th for everyone else.

    • snikendelarveføtter

According to my calender, the 20th is tomorrow, which means that the beta starts today for those who preordered. But then again, timezones can be the reason for the mismatch :o )

  • Zu Snow

Does anyone know if I can play on the closed beta client, or do I have to download loads of gigabytes again?

    • snikendelarveføtter

I think you can play on the client you have already used, but i think you have to download a patch that is around 4gig.

  • Jado Cast

Anybody want to take a bet on how many Tera vs. GW2 videos will release on YouTube after the two betas are over?  :-)
