PvP Season Ends! Patch 5.4 Is Imminent
The announcement of the PvP Season ending indicates Patch 5.4 is coming on the same day or soon after.
We have a date for patch 5.4…. kind of! World of Warcraft PvP season 13 will officially come to an end on August 27th reports Battle.net. This signals the end of patch 5.3 and the transition into patch 5.4.
Historically, patches land on the last day of the PvP season or the very next Tuesday after. This means we are looking at an August 27th or September 3rd date for patch 5.4.
It has been promised that Patch 5.4 will the last content patch of Mists of Pandaria. It features the Siege of Orgrimmar raid in which players will take down the current Warchief of the Horde, Garosh Hellscream. If this is the last major content on offer, the next step would be an expansion. It is thought that an expansion will be announced at Blizzcon this November. Blizzard recently trademarked the name The Dark Below for a computer game, which is rumored to be a World of Warcraft or Diablo 3 expansion.
Another feature of the incoming patch 5.4 includes Flex raiding in which players can put together a group of 10 to 25 people and head into raid without worrying about getting a specific raid composition. This is entirely separate from Looking For Raid and regular raids, allowing players to get gear three times a week in differing levels of difficulty.
As far as PvP goes, season 14 will get rid of arena teams, leaving it up to individual players to earn their ranks. Current team ratings will be removed. Players can queue up in groups of 2, 3 or 5 and will be matched with an opposing team based on the average rating of all team members.
We have two weeks left in Season 14 and two… possibly three weeks in patch 5.4. It’s time to crunch down and get your ratings up. If your team is anything like mine, it’s time to extend lockouts and get Lei Shen dead before the patch hits!
