There’s a whole lot of Guild Wars 2 information blowing up on the ‘net today.
Noted v-blogger Totalbiscuit had a go at the Guild Wars 2 beta over the weekend, giving us a great look at weapon variety on his Charr Thief in a half-hour-long video.
Throughout the video, he makes use of improvised weapons, or “bundles,” which replace a character’s weapon skills with a few new ones. While limited in use and not typically as effective as a “real” weapon, they can be cleverly used to good effect, such as when he smacks an enemy Charr with a board, sending him flying.
It should also be noted that, with a typical weapon setup, such as a sword or dagger and pistol, some skills are altered to make use of both, such as a skill that fires a pistol and then allows for a quick shadow-stepping strike with a dagger. Other skills actually change your weapon loadout as part of their effect, and — while team-tackling a dynamic event — an Elementalist bestows a hammer of lightning on his Thief, making available another whole set of skills.
In short, if your friends say GW2 combat will be “dull” because you only have 10 skills, you should suggest they watch this video — and not just for the swell accent.
