Frogster Addresses Community Concerns About The Censorhip Of EU Tera

A few days ago, the European Tera forums erupted with angry posts from fans after they discovered during the last beta test that the blood slider had been removed from game.

Fans were upset not only because of the blood slider removal, but also because they felt lied to.  And they were angry enough to start trying to cancel their pre-orders.

Tuesday, Tera CM Raven posted an open letter to the EU Tera community announcing that they have heard the community and are listening.  The letters addressed more issues than the blood slider and included the Elin textures, breast sizes and the emblem feature.

According to Raven the blood slider will be put back into the game — after launch — and will function the same as it did before.  However they have  changed the blood splatter on the screen.  Apparently, it is the screen splatter that will affect the PEGI 12+ rating.

While the majority of the EU Tera community seem to be pretty okay with the letter, there are those who are taking Frogster to task. Some fans feel that these changes do not fit Frogster’s earlier assertions that the game will make it to Europe intact.

I’m inclined to agree with these people as it seems unlikely that the game will be able to hold up to the 12+ rating without continuous adjustments by the EU developers.

Just for clarity’s sake, the Elin changes are US  and EU only.

Yes. Sorry if that came out unclear.  EME and Frogster got together with Bluehole and worked out the changes.

On the other hand the breast size reductions on some of the models as well as some costume changes are global according to Raven’s letter.

Idiot gamers complain too much and now their getting a soiled game across the board from greedy companies. Oh well. I’ll be looking forward to an adult-orientated game for 2015.

Maybe these gamer’s with half a brain look back in the future and see all their whining made them loose more crap than anything else.

I were playing the beta and thought it was kinda good and might replace my wow but now Im not even gonna give the retail version a chance. Its so damn dumb to try to go for the PEGI 12 when you already made a game thats so sexualy focused with outfits and boobs everywere so you lose all the trust in the game company. When you market/sell a product and then you as a customer dont get what you payed for thats fraud.

Raven decided to completely avoid the point the customers are making on the forums. A clear attempt at blowing smoke in our eyes and sadly, it worked in many cases.
The problem is that with the PEGI 12 we do not know what they might decide to censor in the future patches and in the end, delay any future content.

To be fair to the EU Tera fans.  They really want to play the game and if they want to play it without having to join US or Korean servers, they have to believe Frogster is going to keep their promise.

But yes, I completely agree with you on the future content being questionable.  I have a very hard time seeing how the game will remain “untouched” when they’re trying to keep a rating it obviously wasn’t designed for.  Even with the changes they have made, it is still questionable as to whether the game is really appropriate for someone around the age of 12.

they could just add a mature rating in the options of the game but u hav to hav varified that you are of age

If Frogster are localising the NA client for the EU then future content is bound to be delayed.
Maybe they are doing their own translations from Korean to English/French/German, I suspect it is more likely they are going to wait on the NA English version and then translate that to French/German.
Looking how far behind Gameforge are with Aion in the EU I would be a tad concerned.

To my understanding  Frogster is localizing from the Korean client.  It’s just that in some things certain changes have been made in both the EU and NA clients that are the same.  So it’s kind of “in conjunction with” the NA client rather than  NA makes changes and then EU makes more changes.

Don’t tell people there’s this new burger coming out with chicken and beef then pull beef after people have ordered it.

I don’t care what your reason behind removing content just before launch after taking pre-orders allow people to un pre-order and get used to the fact some people are going to shun your game just because of that.

I don’t intend to play tera unless its really good, P12 is laughable though, mmo’s need to be p16-p18 from my point of view.

These companies your buying your game from are liars? Couldn’t see that one coming. Looks like it’s a pattern that started from Blue Hole Studios and now their publishers are doing the same thing? Ding Ding Ding. Monster Hunter 3 has the same bloody combat thing and a one-time purchase with no screw-overs or gag-attempts.

On the other hand your paying subscription for things that should be essentially free. And publishers snipping as much content under the wool of your eyes as possible. Companies that can’t do honest business with their customers gets a closed wallet from me.

Especially a D+ BBB rated one.
