Guild Wars 2 fans rejoice as the intro to the intelligent and crafty Asura has appeared on GameTrailers.com

The Asura are the crafters of massive technological marvels of Tyria, and now we are finally given a look at these master minds of ingenuity.

The intro shows off the use of golems which many from the beta weekends will know are a force to be reckoned with, but also explains the trouble that forces your hand as a player to act.

Check out the video and let us know if the Asura is your ideal main character, or does the overconfident – while brilliant – intelligence irk your Charr like sensibilities?

[UPDATE]

Ree Soesbee dropped a blog post on the Guild Wars 2 main website to discuss the goal of expressing in a minute and a half intro the scope, the feeling, and the inspiration of the character you’re about to experience.

The way lore writers and artist challenge each other to add more creative power to these videos we love and really layer that excitement till we, the gamers, are charging headlong into the game tearing down our foes and absorbing the world.

Near the end of the article, she does give a short but sweet node to stay tune for the Sylvari intro.

Keep your eyes glued to Gamebreaker as we eagerly wait for more info to hit the net.

    asura attitude is great

I hope that isnt the final music in the background, seems abit tame for their attitude.

I know I told myself I wasnt going to play Asura this weekend, but its not looking good.  I will probably play a Asura Warrior as well.

  • http://twitter.com/FabEletronica Luis Paulo da Silva

That’s really cool, but I’ll never ever play an Asura :P

  • http://www.facebook.com/liam.is.teh.bestist Liam Gormley

I used to think the Asura looked kinda silly and sounded like a race I wouldn’t be very interested in playing. But after the videos that have been released, about their starting area and now this one, I’m really looking forward to playing an Asura. I like the sound of an Asura Guardian :D

  • Morturion

So, judging from the sounds and what little you could see, the Asura were driving from their homeland by…
     the Transformers ? :S

    • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Actually by a fire dragon the size of a mountain and its army of giant lava demons. Those robots are golems; the asura build them to do all the heavy lifting.

    • RockerDC3

      No, Troggs.

Diminutive race driven from their underground habitat by some evil is an old and tired story.

      • pandora005

        tired or tried?

  • http://www.facebook.com/david.fronk.9 David Fronk

Asurans just reek of distilled awesome

Kinda makes you wonder what the intros for Statics and Dynamics look like, doesn’t it? Though Synergetics looks like a pretty awesome college.

I call GW2 like a WoW 2.0 because it feels a lot like the times when WoW was first released. There was a mystical sense of story, passion and creativity even though WoW was not really original or boundary pushing. GW2 is in the same boat, noting truly new in concept or boundary pushing but an up to date major “world of imagination” with a bunch of quality of life improvements.

GW2 is not a flawless gem, many people tend to treat it like it is or will be, I don’t see it. It takes many naturally progressed steps in the right direction, but it is no great leap forward. I’ll be putting some time in it, but maybe because I am spoiled by my game design practices and theory-crafting because the combat doesn’t really thrill me I want more action based. Don’t request I go play Tera either leveling/questing system in that game sucks and combat still lacks (though I enjoy it more than GW2 tab target-style). No I don’t care that you can get away with not tab targeting with some abilities, it is that type of target-based game regardless.

To be honest, I was not really all that blown away with GW2,
I played all the BWEs, and was not really looking forward to this last one.
I blame almost 7 years of WOW for that.

That all changed with playing an Asuran thief this weekend.
Something clicked, and like Jayremy mentioned below, the magic I felt when I first logged into WOW has returned, as well as the lack of sleep that occurs.

I’m probably not going to play anymore until release date,
to save and savor those moments that are all to fleeting with today’s choices in MMOs.

    Was it perfect?
    No.
    Do I need sleep?
    Yes.
    Was My significant other pleased?
    Not even slightly.

    Was it worth it?
    Hell Yeah.

I will probably spend more time on it when it counts (post release) than spend much time in the betas. I got school and other issues, along with games to play in the meantime where my progression can be saved and challenged in a gameplay manner I enjoy more.

A super awesome game I doubt i’d care if it was beta, I would play it hardcore; GW2 is not that. I just see myself playing it moderately after release, I am craving more action-based and fast-past, “realistic-controlled” combat style of gameplay. GW2 just doesn’t feel like anything new. It is merely a HUGE quality of life improvement compared to coming from WoW (which I haven’t played in nearly 2 years), in both social aspects, game mechanics and combat design.
