Rift fans, it’s time to celebrate.
For a while now, you’ve been asking for that one accessory that every adventurer needs to set themselves apart. And, finally, Trion has agreed. Soon, we will have capes. But not just any capes. Trion is getting us the ultimate in cape technology.
Or rather, they’re turning to the “go-to source” for the technology needed to create realistic capes for Rift players.
Earlier today, CloakWorks announced that Trion Worlds has licensed its advanced cloth simulation technology titled Shroud 2.0. This technology will be used in Rift to add real-time dynamic interactive clothing and soft-body physics effects.
Since Trion will be using the most recent release of Shroud they will have access to several new features including support that animates different parts of the same mesh. This should mean that the cloaks will move more freely.
I’ll be very interested to see how well Shroud works, especially with all the added weather effects. I can already imagine myself standing at the top of the steps of Meridian with my cape billowing behind me.
