Rift‘s 1.9 update is on it’s way and is bringing with it the much anticipated Conquest PvP.
But PvP’s not all that players have to look forward to. Trion has also included instant adventures, mentoring, very global chat, a new ten-man sliver, and of course a barber shop.
During an interview with Massively‘s Karen Bryan, Trion‘s COO and RIFT Executive Producer Scott Hartsman and RIFT Design Director Hal Hanlin answered a few questions about the upcoming patch.
In the interview, Hartsmand and Hanlin talk about the implementation of instant adventures and when we can expect to see them in every zone. At present, players can expect four IA’s in 1.9 — in the zones of Silverwood, Freemarch, Gloamwood and Stonefield.
The duo also discussed mentoring and the difficulty level involved in implementing it in any MMO. According to Hartsman, Rift’s souls make the process even more complicated.
As with all things Trion, players can expect to see some post-launch tweaks to the new features, and this includes the global chat. Rather than limiting this feature Trion decided it would be best to put it out and see what works and is used, and what needs to be changed after people start using it.
According to Hartsman everything in 1.9 is designed with “players being able to do more things with each other” in mind. So far, it seems like they’re doing a good job of encouraging that kind of interaction.
Of course, when it comes to playing together, it still comes down to the players and what they feel like doing. What do you think?
