Blizzard Community Manager Draztal brings up some new plans for reputation and lesser charms
Blizzard CM Draztal posted some interesting new ideas today in response to the plentiful requests for new ways to earn reputation, and, to a lesser extent, lesser charms. Players have long been unhappy with the focus on daily quests in Mists of Pandaria, and Blizzard’s team have gone from a firm stance, to a bit of backpedaling, to a full on retreat on the matter.
Draztal’s post was as follows:
The developers are currently planning to include bonus reputation that can be earned via scenarios and dungeons. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be through tabards and in the exact same way as back in the days, but sounds close enough to what you want!

I really don’t want to do dailies for coins either, why can’t we just get them from HC’s as well?
Actually, not from heroics, but the developers are planning to let you have a chante to earn Lesser Charms of Good Fortune through Pet Battles. Basically, if you win, you’ll have a chance of receiving charms based on your pet level.
And if a player is below level 90, they’ll get experience equal to defeating a yellow creature.
The first half of Draztal’s post sounds great, any way to get bonus rep from dungeons or scenarios, be it a tabard or otherwise, will be a boon both to those who don’t care for dailies and those who do their dailies but just want some variety. It will also be a help for players gearing new characters via dungeons, as the additional rep gains will likely be enough to push relatively geared players back into the older content, which they might otherwise have eschewed in favor of the Raid Finder, or similar.
The second half of Draztal’s post, though, sounds utterly bizarre! Pet battles giving XP gains as a reward seems logical, and a bit of a fun way to level. Given that certain professions already award XP, it’s no surprise that pet battles might too. However, given that Blizzard had said from the out that pet battles were meant as a side game, the addition of something like lesser charms, which are used in raids to get extra rolls on loot, is strange at best!
Will this make players feel they have to add pet battles to their “things I should be doing” list?
