Method vs Vodka.

Athene as you may know is currently in the middle of SHARECRAFT, a movement for him to raise $1,000,000 for the Horn Of Africa Save The Children campaign, and his latest adventure has been the Dragon Soul Challenge.

Bringing together two of the top guilds in the world — Method and Vodka — to see who is better at running Dragon Soul in front of 30,000+ livestream viewers.

In a speed run — that would make many heroic raiding guilds cry as they clear content faster than I could clear Ragefire Chasm — both guilds show just how good they actually are at the game, running Dragon Soul in a way that I didnt think possible.

This “PvE race” may actually be a look towards challenge mode dungeons, two top guilds that have Dragon Soul on farm can still find the content challenging and engaging as they take it to another level, exactly how the challenge mode will operate.

Both guilds take it down to the wire as they clear the entire dungeon in just over one hour, a demonstration of the level of skill that it takes to be a world’s top raider.

Athene is currently at $380,000 raised towards Save The Children, a truly incredible amount and he still isn’t finished.

I mean it’s obvious and if you seen his videos then you would know it’s acting because he has pointed it out numerous times that it’s acting. I’m not sure who is the bigger troll here. Athene or you.

The whole “sport” behind raiding always felt disingenuous to me as a competition thing in anyway. The amount of sacrifice they put I think is cool on a dedication based thing but really this isn’t like other sports where you play hours on end (being the only or main requirement) to improve purely skill alone. It is more like getting fortunate with meeting up and having co-existing/compatible schedules with guildmates, who all have time to maximum grind. Just too many variables I would classify as luck over skill, even though there is skill involved at that level, but for everybody else and the road to get there, not really. Its more of a factor of “life” being on your side to allow you to get the “world firsts”.

That being said challenge mode, this specific event and format, seem much more sincere and great incompetitive matters. As said, in an hour of time they were able to do this, starting at equal from start to finish, a true test. Future challenge modes in WoW, especially in other games if devs can pick up on it would be interesting to see. Anybody can do a challenge in an hour of time, or work up for a single event to perform.

Think about it like SC2, world firsts are like who can win 1000 matches first rather than who can win GSL(like this event).

We see currently to this day world record seeker speed runners, would be nice to see such done, on games designed for that and not so much a retro thing.

Athene is human scum. Just look at his youtube videos from around the Burning crusade time. he is the kind of person I would punch in the face if i was ever face to face with.

Who is controlling what he is doing with all this money? Help for Africa indeed …

  Please understand what you’re talking about before opening your mouth. Athene doesn’t actually get any money as it goes directly to the charity. If you do not trust the charity, perhaps you should read up about it before spouting your slander. Also, Athene is a character, deal with it.

I wacthed the whole thing Live, it was freaking amazing.
I sort of like athene, hes a douche yeah, but thats his char. And I think its well played.

The race was awesome,everyone though it was over, Vodka was like 60% behind after the wipe, then 50, then 40, and getting closer and closer! and on spine, they got the kill in the same minute! Was so exciting!

And when the pala on vodka got bugged and died between platforms, and he was a healer and they were already under healing? i though they were done, but they still got the kill a few secs after Method!

It was awesome. I would like to see a race again in the future. They were talking about doing it with other Guilds. Hope they do.

Oh and I dont know how far behind the streams were, there’s always a delay. Still I dont think they delayed it on purpose. Still in the end it might have been a few more secs than 3. The only way to know I guess is to watch the whole youtube vid from the guilds. And I didn’t.

I originally thought this would be very boring, but it ended up being entertaining. Even though Athene is a pretty terrible caster it is still worth watching.

Am I missing something? what I watched was Blood Legion, Paragon, Stars and Exorsus….and Stars ended up winning by about 30 seconds….
