It’s an Over/Under two-fer today, as we take a look at two of our subscription predictions and our predications for optimism.
First up is the first ever Over/Under, in which we challenged folks to take a stab at the subscriptions for Star Wars: The Old Republic, with a pivot point of 1.0 million. Though no exact number has been announced, EA did confirm in its recent investors’ call that the total is “under one million” — and that’s good enough for us.
So how’d you all do? Honestly as much SWTOR ambivalence/hate as there is out there, we were a little surprised to see as many “Over” votes as we did. About 1/3 of you took the over, with one very precise answer:
- Over approximitely 1,225,492
And one, shall we say, overly optimistic one:
- Over, with a slow crawl in time to over take WOW, this will of corce take a few years too do.
Of corce.
Next up, we have World of Warcraft subscription numbers, which we pegged at 9.7 million. The actual result was 9.1 million, a fair deal under, but this wasn’t nearly as slam-dunk an answer for our community, which was split nearly 50/50. We’re not sure if this is optimism or fanboy-ism — take your pick.
Again, there were a few exceptionally precise answers:
- under. 9,642,381 subs
- 9934621
And a fairly logical bit of reasoning that didn’t quite pan out:
- Over. Annual pass is still in effect, so you won’t see anything under 10 million until October.
*looks at calendar* Yep, still August. Oh well.
