Hallow’s End is back in full swing, with some upgraded rewards for Mists. The Headless Horseman has returned, giving out loot-filled pumpkins for the first kill of the day, which will appear in your bag and reward you with a plethora of tricky treats. Some of them will literally be Tricky Treats, there are also masks needed for achievements, and there are two mounts — the Horseman’s Reins, and the Magic Broom. The latter, as ever, can only be used during Hallow’s End.You will likely also get various food items, all of which count towards achievements. There’s also a battle pet: the Sinister Squashling.
The fight with the Headless Horseman is exactly the same as last year, if memory serves me correctly, his head comes to join you all after you take out the horseman for the first time and is later joined by a small, marauding gang of pumpkins. But in important notes, the Horseman has obviously been leveling up and is now a level 92 elite. His pumpkin-headed pals are now level 85, so gone are the Cataclysm days of taking them all out in a few moments with Heroism up!
In order to queue for the Headless Horseman instance, you do need to be level 89. The seasonal dungeon won’t even appear in your Looking For Group window until you are 89, and to be honest you’d need to be at least 89 to have a chance against his upgraded elite status! The rewards he drops are also upgraded. For your first completion of the day, you get the aforementioned loot-filled pumpkin, but the boss also drops one of four rings. These rings are item level 470 with upgraded stats, there’s an agility one, a spirit one, a strength one and an intellect one. There’s also the possibility that he may drop an item level 470 helmet, he always has in the past, but I haven’t seen one yet!
There are also a load of achievements, which contribute to meta achievement What a Long, Strange Trip it’s Been. For a full list, check out Wowhead!
