Blizzard Removes 64-bit Client For World of Warcraft With Patch 4.3.3

Blizzard giveth, and Blizzard taketh away! While many people have enjoyed the splendor that is the 64-bit client for World of Warcraft, it seems that the upcoming patch 4.3.3 is going to break it, forcing users back down to the 32-bit client. To make matters worse we don’t know how long it will be until we get another functional 64-client.

If you were previously running the 64-bit client, according to Blizzard you need to delete the following files in order for the patch to work properly.

  • Wow-64.exe
  • MovieProxy.exe
  • Battle.net-64.dll
  • World of Warcraft-64.app

For more information be sure to check the support website.

According to their post the files will be back up for download once 4.3.3 goes live, so Im assuming they have them ready just need to update the original thread.

Bugs, a way of life for Pc gamers, but I sure do hate them. Don’t you miss just having to blow in the cartridge?

Bugs – a way of life for ALL forms of gamers. PC Games are a little easier to patch though.

I heard that WoW is so old it runs on DosBox so this should only be a problem for players’ egos.

My wife and I downloaded the 64bit to our puters from one of the links through MMO after the last patch.  It didn’t give us a launcher once it was done.  Once I linked the “launcher” to our desktop taskbars, we were able to play wow using the 64bit version.  (skips launching window not sure why) This being said.  As it does not offer a launcher, is it safe to assume that it will not patch the 4.3.3 updates, hence it wont “break” but will sadly be unplayable?  Did anyone else come to play the 64bit this way as well?  kinda concerned.. hep meh

when you run WoW it automatically checks for updates and if its an essential patch like 4.3.3 it will force download it for you
