Well-known PvPer Hotted posted a video on his youtube channel today, featuring a video that shows what he refers to as interrupt hacking. He is joined in this assertion by his team-mates, who just happen to be Swifty and Sallice, so he’s certainly in good company. Why does it appear to be a hack? It’s the speed of the interrupt, particularly later on in the video where Hotted is casting and is interrupted in what appears to be a fraction of a second. Even allowing for latency that is inhuman speed, as evidenced by how Sallice asserts earlier in the match that the Death Knight “just used Mind Freeze randomly and got [him]“.
Commenters on Hotted’s video assert that this is the work of one of several programs from a well-known hacking site. GAMEBREAKER does not endorse hacking, so will not be linking it here, and we’d ask you to refrain from doing so in the comments.
A big part of caster PvP is juking, the art of tricking an enemy into wasting an interrupt, trying to catch a cast you just stopped, and this addon makes that impossible. Indeed, the castbar barely appears, the interrupt is so fast. It doesn’t seem likely to me that a human could do that, and a human really can’t respond to it with a juke or fake-cast either.
But what’s your take on this? Do you agree with Hotted and think it’s a hack? It certainly seems that way to me, one occurrence could be pure luck, but the Death Knight seems to consistently be interrupting at superhuman speed. If so, and that’s far from 100% certain by the way, then Blizzard needs to take swift action to prevent this from becoming a huge issue in what is already, frankly, rather a broken PvP season.
