Once upon a time there was a young chinhawk and an addled Englishman.

After a pleasant Guild Wars 2 PvE Q&A, the trendily bearded fellow asked GAMEBREAKER fans to send in their questions for a PvP hit.

Reaching through the torrent of incoming emails like a man fighting his way out of quicksand, Mike B aka Fony selected a veritable plethora of questions to answer and asked the dazed and confused subject of the Queen to help deliver a two part extravaganza.

This is part one, dealing with some general questions and then focusing on the mesmer, engineer, thief and guardian professions.

There is somethine extreemly important he didn’t cover near the start of the video. If you dodge while casting something, it doesn’t trigger the full cool down, AKA I dodge while casting a 25 second cooldown, so the cool down is only 5 seconds, not 25. This is important because you can bait an enemy into wasting an interupt by casting a heal then dodging before it ends.

Hah. You should really only need 3 Guardians to make a wall trap, unless the walls turn out to be too short. That should be easier to coordinate too.

You can’t use your racial elites in PvP that has been confirmed.

  Thanks, they seem a bit overpowered, and I noticed that I wasn’t charzooka’d to the face during my time ingame. Then there’s the elementalist’s tornado that we’re gonna talk about tomorrow.. good lord.

    Hmm, they will balance them as they said that racial elites are to be weaker then profession elites. They are intended only to add a bit of flavor to the game and to your race but they are no way as powerful as the normal elites.

    Funny thing is I saw more Warriors than anything else in PVP… I mean.. um.. pvp videos of course. >.>
    
    Guardians and Elementalists were also popular. Engineers are some tricky SOBs… ANet did a great job making every class powerful.

I can see how if you use a keyboard and you cannot use modifiers it would be more difficult. With a Nostromo or a G13 …. not as much of a problem.. but yes, would be nice if you could use them. Nostromo and G700 FTW!

  There are actually no metric buttloads. A US buttload would be 477 liters, a UK buttload would be 491 liters, and a Spanish buttload would be 520 liters.

You can cast instant spells while performing any action, including dodging and you failed to mention that.

I know people are worried about Thieves, but the way ArenaNet designed the game, you’ll just have to learn to dodge. The way Initiative works, you can pretty much avoid every big skill a Thief will throw at you. All the classes have depth, and are a pain to deal with if a skilled player is behind the wheel, but the make or break mechanic in PVP is dodging.

You spam, you die, lol.

Drop down in front of a Gate while being sieged and pop the Ring of Warding (Hammer), trapping the attackers inside it, while your mate drops hot tar on their head!

If you watch the WvsWvsW vids, you will see that you don’t get instagibbed by multiple AoEs. What this means is that if you don’t panic, you can pick your targets and pwn them in melee via closers.

P.S. Savage Leap + Hamstring is just SICK. Add Bolas, Shield Bash, Bull Rush and Melee Speed Trait and your enemy is NOT getting away. Oh, and if you have Greatsword, that’s another THREE mobility skills…

Remember Illusions can be shattered by the Memser for all matter of annoying effects and burst damage. So if you use an attack to one shot an illusion instead of the Mesmer himself, it is not necessarily a bad thing.
