When it comes to selling the PS Vita, Sony’s really taking the idea that sex sells seriously. In a new ad appearing in French magazines, the company has compared the console to a four breasted woman.
I know what you’re thinking. I thought the same thing. This isn’t a Total Recall thing where some hottie alien chick has four breasts lined up – or even stacked – on her chest. No… In Sony’s version the lady in question is endowed front and back.
The ad, which features text that translates to “Touch both sides. Twice the sensations.” doesn’t show you the lady’s head, which might be a relief (Is anyone else imagining the Mayor from The Nightmare Before Christmas?), but it does get the point across. The back of the Vita is touchable too.
However, I think they could have likely made the same comparison using a normal female and just comparing the back to her derriere.
That said, many people are questioning the choice of the ad at all as it comes off as misogynistic, and I seriously doubt comparing the device to a lady’s bottom would make it any better.
It should also be noted that this isn’t the first time Sony has used a rather questionable ad to promote one of it’s devices. A few years back they used the image below to promote the PSP White which many have viewed as racist, inadvertent or not.
