GAMEBREAKER has received breaking information from a anonymous source that massive layoffs are hitting the CCP Atlanta team today. We have been told that every World of Darkness Level Designer has been laid off as well as a mix of Designers and Producers on the project. It is unknown at this time if the layoffs have affected the EVE Online team. We will update this story as it unfolds.

CCP Games have made an official statement confirming the layoffs.

[blockquote cite=”Massively”]”CCP today made strategic adjustments to the staffing on the team working on the World of Darkness project in Atlanta that resulted in the elimination of approximately 15 positions at the company. The change was due to our evaluation of the game’s design and ongoing development needs. While this was a difficult decision, CCP remains committed to the franchise and our promise to make a compelling, rich, and deep World of Darkness experience.”[/blockquote]

Hopefully this doesnt effect the RPG team, and is instead the WoD video game

There isn’t an RPG team at CCP anymore — all the books are licensed out these days, primarily to Onyx Path Publishing.

Thats nice that they are working on them enough to actually have a license agreement though.

Really bummed about this news. Having it happen right before Christmas is awful for the employees and I had high hopes for World of Darkness. After these layoffs and the previous ones, I really don’t know what they’re going to come out with at this point.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Wow…seriously..Merry Christmas! I’m sorry, I don’t care for the reasons. Unless you are filing for bankruptcy, this is just a needlessly horrible thing to do.
