These Assassin’s Creed 4 screenshots and concept art paint a beautiful picture.
While the trailer may have slipped out over the weekend, some things — like these Assassin’s Creed 4 screenshots and concept art did not. Today, Ubisoft has released them alongside some information about the game itself.
According to Ubisoft, you will be playing as Captain Edward Kenway, a young man who left the British navy to seek his fortune among the pirates. As should be expected, Captain Kenway finds himself caught up in the middle of the Templar / Assassin war where he is trained by and eventually becomes a member of the Assassin Order.
From a pirate fan-girl perspective, it will be interesting to see how Kenway reconciles his pirate self with becoming a soldier in someone else’s battle. That is generally not their way.
That said, if these Assassin’s Creed 4 screenshots and the trailer are any indication, pirate-assassin may be the most dangerous combination yet!
What secrets are we unraveling this time?
The game takes place in 1715 and the English and Spanish are busy trying to kill each other while pretty much everyone is trying to take the Pirates out. But behind all that, the Templars and Assassins continue their owngoing battle as well. And, this time the Templars are looking for a mysterious place that would give them an advantage over their enemies and allow them to finally achieve world domination.
How are the pirates going to be depicted?
Ubisoft has set out to tell the “true” story of piracy, with respect to the time period and people in it. The story takes place in the final decade of piracy — called The Golden Age of Piracy — and will show what it was like for these men and women to elected to leave the Big Empires and attempt to build their own society.
So what do you guys think?
I have to say, I’m a lot more excited by this setting than I was the last game. But, that is purely based off of the fact that I’m not exactly an early American history buff, rather than any perceived quality of the game. Pirates, however, I can definitely get behind.
