Bastion is inarguably one of the most talked about indie games from last year. Everything from it’s art style and narration to story and gameplay brought a lot of attention — and sales – it’s way. It’s a pretty good bet that Supergiant Games could not have been happier with their first game.
It’s also a good bet that fans were hoping to see what the indie company has in mind for their next game — something that would typically be shown off at a convention like PAX East. But, Supergiant Games decided not to do that.
Instead of bringing in something new, they brought something old.
Creative director of Supergiant Games: Greg Kasavin was there, walking fans through a four week old prototype of the game — before it had story, art or narration.
It’s an interesting look as he shows off a 3D model of “The Kid” that slides around the map and monsters that are actually scans from a Dungeons and Dragons book.
For people who are interested in the developer side of gaming, this would have been a rare treat that gives insight into the process of making a game.
