Error 37 Returns To Frustrate Diablo III Fans

The Blizzard forums are hopping with upset players once again, as Diablo III‘s infamous Error 37 has returned.

On this occasion, people are not just losing valuable play time, some also report the loss of permadeath Hardcore Mode characters to the error.

In response to the complainants a community manager offered the following explanation:

“Login is currently being impacted by the number of players that are coming online after they downloaded the patch and accepted the Terms of Use. Sadly, the additional steps required to patch and log in to the game is creating a lot of the ‘Error 37′ prompts for players.

We’re currently working on a fix for this and are looking to have it implemented as soon as possible; we hope to have future patching processes smoothed out for Diablo 3.”

The patch in question, update 1.0.2, is mostly for bug fixes including login error 14009.

Sadly, I suspect this is not the last we will be hearing of Error 37.

One more reason why this game should NEVER have been forced to be on-line.

    • 7BitBrian

I agree, the downsides(everything that is repeatedly happening) far outweigh the upsides. Should have never been the case.

Blizzard has removed my Diablo 3 game off my account last week. Saying I unsubed from the Annual Pass…. But you can’t “unsub” and I still have the pass…… They are saying I have to resub with the Annual Pass or buy the game.. I guess my main thing is what happens to my toons now they took my game away? I am unsure if I will play blizzard another game again since this happened….

I personally don’t know about your case, but if you don’t pay for one of your subscription periods, within the year you signed up for the pass, you lose your extras (Tyreal’s Charger, Diablo III, etc.) until you start paying again.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

I’m guessing your WoW sub has expired.  What happened when you added a gametime to your account?

    • jon Tang

If you bought and paid for an annual pass than you are subbed for a whole year, i highly doubt that your sub already expired.

Only thing that makes sense is got your credit card charges reversed and so therefore not paid for it.

If that is not the case than you need to take it up with blizzard and or a government consumer rights office.

    • Kagitaar

      Try paying your WoW sub.

    Torchlight 2 FTW ( offline play )

  • http://twitter.com/HallusH HallusH

whilte watching this got dc’ed twice after 2hours of trying to login

    • Kagitaar

I’m sure adding more stress to your network connection would help that.

  • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No problems here. Played for a couple of hours today, had no issues.

  • djsjr

    AAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! MIKE!!!!!!!! <3

  • http://www.facebook.com/fredrik.gardsio Fredrik Fronken Gardsiö

I’m having no problems with Error 37 atm, instead i’m getting “There was an error creating your own party. (Error 1)” Constantly!

I’m really hoping Blizzard gets their shit together so that D3 can become a game one can actually play when you feel like it, because as it is now, i can’t play nearly as much as i’d hoped because i work all day and when i get home the servers are down.

Really hoping they never do the “Online-ONLY” thing again, because i really like Blizzard, but this is just stupid.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/ITHF7XKYGVXFAPCDMDJTKHLBBU Lian Wan

Despite the “Online-ONLY” they still got one of the best if not THE best selling PC games ever. It seems like people are telling Blizzard “It’s okay to do that again for you next game! We don’t mind at all. In fact we are pretty happy you made that choice”

      • MMO_Doubter

        Indeed.

“Please Sir, may I have another?”

Act like a bitch, you get treated like one.

Cronie bought the game few days ago, today was the first time he`s been plagued with error 37 & 73.

Hardcore mode should not be permadeath.  You should loose all your items.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1625266606 Andreotti Davide

And Diablo IV… In normal mode you can’t die and in hardcore get a 10% durability loss?

      • http://twitter.com/Deadalon Deadalon

With the current stability issues still affecting it ?  yes it should.

I have played alot of online games that have item loss features and it hurts as hell to loose your hard earned item that took you weeks or even months to get.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/ITHF7XKYGVXFAPCDMDJTKHLBBU Lian Wan

You might like Path of Exile’s implementation of that. If a character dies in the Hardcore League they get shoved back into the “Normal” league.

  • falknerblitz

It was as all Mike!! I knew it!!! O.o

  • Joey Biggs

Mike ur smile is awesome…. no homo

  • Xample

I’m just done with D3, I’m not having fun playing it anymore which it’s a shame cause I played D2 quite a bit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Johnson/1353890372 Michael Johnson

    For fuck sake, blizzard

  • MMO_Doubter

     Ahem:

    Told you so.

    Blizzard:

No offline play. No LAN play. Screw you players.

    YOUR PARENTS HAHAHA

  • Damir Miric

loosing a hard core char due to that shit is just terrible … I can see how people that play that way could be really pissed … error 37 is not a huge problem … whats worse is what if you dc for some stupid reason … they made the game unplayable in a hard core mode exept if you bring your computer to Blizz headquaters and plug in to the server

  • Draugmahl

Wow I guess I shouldn’t open the box and install this tonight eh?

  • Deathstar2x

I loved Diablo 2, its hardcore mode, ladder play and offline play. I’d admit Normal to Hell in Diablo 3 was a fun adventure for two weeks. Don’t see any re-playability though.

    Doesn’t feel like Diablo anymore.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/Z36GPOU3Q2QIQYBIDVNQAVGNGE Raul

I really doubt I’m ever going to buy a game as soon as it releases, after this.

A new phobia has been created.

  • http://twitter.com/Virg_Ilio Virg_Ilio

50% of my deaths in Diablo 3 happen because of lag. I’m not saying I am an amazing player or anything, it’s just that I play safe and WAY behind a line of minions and whenever I die it’s either because the mob teleports or because I lag out and suddenly there is a whole bunch of things attacking me. And here is a thing for you GBTV comunity managers to spread, even after Blizzard’s expansion into Brazil, brazilian players like me are still having a whole bunch of latency issues even in WoW!

  • Sklys

This game did launch did it not ? Acts like it is in a beta mode.
For all of you who got the game, I hope they get  it  fixed and playable for you.

  • Kempix

Happens on the EU servers too, MASSIVE rubber banding, had so many dodgy moments on my lvl 54 Monk (Hardcore) that ive had to stop playing it for the moment. It gets really bad at around 6pm CET peak times. Error 1 is a very common occurance too, and the commodoties part of the AH has been down for freakin ages. Ive seen beta’s more polished than this turd.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ID77ZEQTZQN52Y4E7TONBVIMZA cheeseflygon…

Wow Blizzard just keeps messing up…these are problems that should have been solved in a beta

  • http://twitter.com/SeedEve AppleSeed2148

The Blizzard you used to know is no more and the Masterminds behind Battlenet are long time gone.

  • Noxdus

Most of Blizzards top-notch employees have left them because they didn’t like the direction it was going as a company. Some of them founded their own studios to compete directly with them (ArenaNet being one of the larger ones), and it seems the “damage” is starting to show more and more. The giant is finally starting to fall, and I say good riddance.

  • Kagitaar

Hardcore is a choice and in D2 you had the same ability for lag to kill you; the only difference was that you could cheat the system a little to try and save yourself. Offline hardcore is not hardcore, way too easy to cheat; don’t even try to use it.

Now, 37 means the login server is at capacity; that has no effect on game servers AT ALL. Unless the server crashes, Blizz has no more blame than your ISP or your modem/power.

  • midx

that add – “congratulations you the 100,000th visitor” make this sight look cheep.

  • http://twitter.com/Warsongraven Warsongraven

I really wish they had kept D3 more similar to D2 in the player mode aspect. Single player game, optional multiplayer over Battle-net. No obligatory internet connection needed.

  • DoctorOverlord

Sheesh, what happened to Blizzard?   They used to pay more attention to their networking code.

Then again, this whole thing certainly seems like it’s being driven more by the marketing bozos rather than the game designers.

  • Thomas Monahan

    TakeBack D3?   lol

  • Vidina_SS

Bliz has sold out for the quick buck. They lunched D3 way too early, it’s a half assed game they gave out to the general public. Classes for one are unbalanced and broken, second issue and the biggest issue is servers. The lag in D3 is unbearable at some times, forget about playing Hardcore with this type of lag it is immposible. Blizzard seems to be loosing customers by the second everytime they luanch a game like D3, even WoW is loosing players.

It just shows you how blizzard are not even playing attention to their customers so that they can improve their game or their customer service. Blizzard is and will be out of a job is they don’t smarten up.
