City of Steam has found their publisher
Mecanist Games is excited to announce they have found a publisher for the English version of their steampunk themed MMO City of Steam. Their name is R2Games (Reality Squared Games); up till now they were a company that exclusively dealt in 2 and 2.5D web-games and have previously launched some majorly successful 2.5D web-browser titles like Crystal Saga and Wartune.
“They are a great bunch of people who are very similar to our company in a lot of ways; they understand and fully support what we’re trying to do with City of Steam and they’re helping us making this game work without giving up what makes CoS great.”
R2Games already has other free-to-play titles in its portfolio, but City of Steam will be the first using the Unity 3D engine. R2 Games CEO Jared Psigoda stated,
“I see a lot of potential in City of Steam. Mechanist Games’ approach to making a game is something we’re thrilled to be a part of. We want to make sure City of Steam gets the recognition it deserves for being the innovative game that it is.”
Rest assured though, developers of City of Steam are guaranteeing that “the game isn’t going to magically change into some Pay2Win hell-hole where we’re rolling around in millions of dollars while cackling to each other in druidic tongue.” they go on to say: “Although we do hope to be rolling around in millions of dollars at some point, if we do it’s going to be in a way that doesn’t involve drinking ourselves to sleep every day because we hate ourselves so much. So eh, let’s not do that.”
Along with the announcement they talk about some of the changes players will see, including a lot more players, along with a few changes that were already in the works. Horray!
