Epic Game‘s Unreal Engine is a big deal because it is one of the most popular engines used in gaming today. So when Epic unveiled a demo of Unreal Engine 4 at GDC to a select few, a lot of us where chomping at the bit to get our hands on that footage.

Today is that day, people.

I can safely say that Unreal Engine 4 was worth the wait.

The folks over at GameTrailers.com have the official video of what was shown behind closed doors at GDC. Not only did they release the video of the pure demo, but they also debuted a really cool walkthrough of the new engine’s features hosted by Alan Willard, a Sr Technical Artist at Epic Games. You can check out that walkthrough in the embed below.

No games shown at E3 were running on Unreal 4, and there aren’t even any games announced to be using the tech in the future. A release date is unknown, but it would seem likely that we will see Epic’s new engine running games made for the next generation of consoles.

Do these glimpses of Unreal Engine 4 get you excited for the future?

Let us know in the comments.

I’m suspecting that there is going to be a new Unreal Tournament game comeing out before this is released

I wish so many game companies weren’t so corporate, so that the successful ones would be willing to occasionally design great games with high end capabilities regardless of the hit on profits it may take. If anything it gives people something to work up to,

I ended up buying Crysis for example when I built my computer 2 years ago because I heard how beautiful it was. Most games are unattractive years after release merely because of the graphical out dating part of it. You design a game with high end specs, you get all the hardcore geeks into it and those with great systems and yield much more players in the future so it might not really be a loss as big as some may think.

I hope they release new consoles soon as the current ones likly wont push this engine and noway will many companies push the top end PC to its limits.

my first thoughts were “”is it just me or dose

as for the engine i cant wait to have my PC killed by whatever
    game they use it on.
