Ready for a third helping of Crysis?

EA outed Crysis 3 yesterday, revealing that the upcoming sequel will use Crytek‘s CryENGINE 3 technology.

The game’s synopsis confirms that Crysis 3 will have more of the dystopian future that fans have come to know and love:

Return to the fight as Prophet, the Nanosuit soldier on a quest to rediscover his humanity and exact brutal revenge. Adapt on the fly with the stealth and armor abilities of your unique Nanosuit as you battle through the seven wonders of New York’s Liberty Dome. Unleash the firepower of your all-new, high-tech bow and alien weaponry to hunt both human and alien enemies. And uncover the truth behind the death of your squad while reestablishing the power of human will in a rich story full of exciting twists and turns.

CryENGINE 3 is the same tech that Crytek used when making Crysis 2, so it’s unlikely that the visuals in Crysis 3 will make the same revolutionary impact as the first game in the series did on the then-gorgeous — and previously unseen — CryENGINE 2 tech.

If the screenshots provided are any indicator, the game is still going to be pretty darn awesome.

Crysis 3 is planned for a Spring 2013 release on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. For all of the info leading up to the game’s release, stay tuned to GAMEBREAKER.tv.

All I can hope is that they continue to patch and support Crysis 3 much longer than they did with Crysis 2.  I love the first Crysis, and Crysis 2 was quite different than the first one.  I did love the single player in Crysis 2, but since they stopped fixing bugs and what not in multiplayer, it ruined the potential it had.

As for the graphics: since they seem to be making their games for consoles as well, I doubt they’ll ever be able to pull off what they had with the first Crysis in terms of how it stressed your PC.  That said, Battlefield 3 did it pretty well in terms of having their PC graphics much better than the console graphics, but even that wasn’t a crazy stress test of PC hardware.

I was kind of let down with how they handled Crysis 2, so I’m going to look and see how they handle Crysis 3 before I consider buying it.

It’s kinda lame that devs don’t “show off” on PC how amazing they can be, they just sit on level little above consoles but not to high, also many programmers are too lazy.

Yea I wish the new consoles would hurry up and come out so we can finaly see some next-gen games. Its bad enough that PC gamers have had to deal with the dumbing down of gaming because of said consoles but now we have are forced to have gaming graphics/tech that don’t even break our rigs into a sweet.

Crytek really dropped the ball with Crysis 2.  They took a great PC shooter and turned it into an average-ish console shooter (while citing piracy as the reason they’re abandoning exclusive PC development – I call bullshit, and I’m sure the EA profiteers had something to do with it).

So, Crysis 3?  No interest.  I might pirate it just for irony’s sake, though I doubt it would be worth the bandwidth.
