Dead Space 3 hit shelves yesterday and we were curious to see how it looked on both XBox 360 and PC.

If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the game yet and would like to know which system you get it on, this Dead Space 3 Xbox 360 vs PC comparison video may help.

The video compares a variety of scenes and environments in order to test the full range of the graphics on each system.  In order to create a more fair comparison, both the XBox and PC footage are 720p.  The game is running on max settings on the PC.

Check out the video above and let us know which systems is the one you chose.  For more graphical comparison videos like this one, be sure to keep tuning into GAMEBREAKER.

And if you missed our previous Xbox 360 vs PC comparison video on Skyrim, check it out here.

ABOUT THE GAME

Facing deadlier evolved enemies and brutal elements, the unlikely pair must work together to save mankind from the impending apocalypse.

    I think this is pointless.
Most games that are released for both pc and consoles at the same time look pretty much the same because they’re tuned down for the consoles. And they are almost never tuned up for the PC. So we get old crappy console graphics on a PC that could handle way better looking games.

Agreed. Until the next gen consoles come out, expect nothing less. And by then, the pc platform will STILL be ages ahead. All in all PC gaming is held back by console gaming.

I will say however that the game looks darker on the PC, and has the potential to be creepier as a result.

Yup. Someone seems to have a stiffy for X-BOX though. Might as well run the game on a P1 since it’s “highest settings” are laughable compared to what a decent modern PC is capable of displaying.

    Damn console ports…

i hope this doesnt continue on GBTV as it’s realy a pointless argument. just cos your pc might be able to suport better graphics doesnt realy make it a good video subject.

like the skyrim vid it’s almost pointless looking for diffrences. and even more to the point is that  why? the people who have xbox’s are probably playing the game and dont realy care about how much “better” the pc version, and the pc guys already know if or how much better their games could look. so why do we have these vids?

when the next consoles come out then maybe a few diffrent games to look at the comparative abilitys of the new systems to the old and a similarly priced pc and a well price’d pc.

untill then we know the current consoles are old.
    we know pc’s are better.
we know that there are new consoles on the way.

    console gaming… ewwww

Both sets of graphics look like crap….

  • BabyChooChoo

Well, the PC version does look better I guess.

I’ll probably still get it for PS3 if I decide to get it at all.

Are people really going to keep buying games from EA? Fuck.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Best get used to it. With the way they keep absorbing every other successful company pretty soon the only way to avoid playing a game from EA will be to give up gaming in general. Besides, evil developer or not, Dead Space and a lot of other “EA games” are actually really good and it would be a shame to let them die off.

Support the IP, not the DLC.

I never liked Dead Space. The only games I played made by EA and subsidiaries were Dragon Age, which is now ruined so I am done with it, and Mass Effect, which is now ruined and I am done with it. I can’t think of any game besides those two IPs that I have played in years that had anything to do with EA or Activision.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

While I agree with you on Dragon Age, I don’t think Mass Effect has been ruined. Lots of games have bad endings, its nothing new, and rarely impacts the overall quality of the series. Heck the Mass Effect 3 ending wasn’t even the worse I’d ever seen; that honor goes to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and it went ahead to make two nice squeals and a prequel.

Well, my biggest gripe with all of EA’s games now is release date DLC bullshit and how the “coincidence” of studios being bought by EA and then the games those companies produce for them turning into steaming piles of shit with crap DLC at launch. It is more that the company shows little respect to their customers intelligence.

But it seems most people still eat this shit right out of EA’s hands.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

For me it really depends on when said DLC was produced. Little known fact; most console games are “finished” months before they come out, and while the development team could be working on more content, they are literally not allowed to patch it into the game. This is because of a process called “certification.” Basically Microsoft demands that all games be submitted for approval before they are released, a process that could take months, and during this time while the development team may be working on more content, finishing “cut content,” or just being put to work on the first DLC update to keep them productive they are not legally able to add this new content into the game.

In other words more often than not so called “day one DLC” has nothing to do with EA, it is entirely Microsoft’s fault. As a rule of thumb I just look at how extensive the DLC is. If it is something like a new art asset (items, skins, map packs) or short (ten to twenty minute) missions I assume it was produced post-certification and have no problem with it. Producing such a thing is better than having your developers sitting on their hands for all that time, so they may as well be working to enhance the game. On the other hand if we’ll looking at something major and that wasn’t clearly just cut content finished after the fact (I still think the Mass Effect 3 DLC “from the ashes” or whatever it was called was in fact cut content that was finished during the certification process, simply because of how short and unessential it was) then I can understand having a problem with it.

In a nut shell, to me, anything produced or finished after the game has been submitted for certification is acceptable “day one DLC.” Anything deliberately held back or cut out specifically to be DLC, as well as disc locked content, and “online pass” content restrictions (Catwoman from Arkham City for example) is not.

kinda a crappy port to pc looks almost like xbox 360 version and tbh pc is far more advanced graphic wise now to that console pc one could have looked way better

  • http://twitter.com/AisarGaming Aisar

Didn’t EA make a statement that the two versions would basicly be identical?  I know a couple people like TB reported on this and how they weren’t making a “proper” PC port.

Why the fuck did you guys at Gamebreaker bother doing this? WE ALL KNOW ITS THE SAME GRAPHICS QUALITY ON PC AS A CONSOLE. Do this on games people care about that have actual differences

Not exactly sure where this series of articles is headed.  It’s not really a test of the video capabilities of each system, just seem like a validation that the publisher wants make the game look the same on Xbox and PC.
