Diablo 3 Turns On Game Limits To Limit Boting
19 Comments

Blizzard has activated the game limits in Diablo 3 in an attempt to avoid botting between ban waves.

We’ve further tuned and tested the conditions that trigger this limit to ensure, as much as possible, that it only affects those abusing the Diablo III game service in a way that violates the Terms of Use – for example, by using bots that create games in rapid succession.

Many know from experience that botting can and will affect any economy they inhabit, and Blizzard is hoping this change will alleviate the situation.

If you happen to find yourself getting an, “Input limit reached” message but you have been the perfect little demon killer, then you will want to contact Blizzard and report the number of games you created and why.

Blizzard will continually tweak this system to ensure players get a fun but fair playing environment for all, so make sure to leave as much feedback on this matter as you can.

Leave a comment below and let us know if you think this will stop the botters, or will this hurt the Diablo community in the long term?

Sort of like how DRM only affects those that pirate games?

No, sort of like how gold farming affects more than the buyers, it also affects the market as a whole.

I’m really just kind of tired of the endless complaints about it being an online game.  We get it. Some people want it to be an offline game.  (God only knows how many of those are people that wanted to pirate it.  I’m sure the number is not zero, anyway.)

It’s not going to change.  I don’t know what they think they are going to gain by bringing it up in every fricking article about the game on every website.  They can go play their Torchlight 2 and keep telling themselves that it’s a better game or whatever.  That’s fine with me. I just wish they would shut up about it already, or at least keep that crap in the Blizzard forums where Blizzard might read it, because we don’t need to constantly hear about it everywhere else.

          Complaining about complaining, how wonderful.

complaining about complaining about complaining …. not so wonderful

You didn’t have to make a new account just to reply to a bit of sarcasm, it gives off a vibe of insecurity.

Uh…okay.  Rather presumptuous. That’s the vibe you give off, since that wasn’t me.

          Nice try, Blizzard PR team.

That’s the other thing about Blizzard fans and their bizarre love / hate relationship.  It makes many of them quite delusional.

I’m just tired of PC gamers endlessly whining about every single goddamned thing with every major release.  It grows tiresome.

Also, I think WoW is boring.  I liked it for a few months after launch, but that game got old for me fast.  Guild Wars 2 all the way.  How’s that for Blizzard PR?

If there was no real money AH (and to some degree an AH full stop) there would be no bots, no farmers and very little need to cheat. Blizzard have sadly brought this on themselves. Their motivation may be greed but the overall effect has been a great game spoiled by cheats, farmers and bots!
Should have just given the players the offline mode we so desired and left it at that!

“If there was no real money AH (and to some degree an AH full stop) there would be no bots, no farmers…”

Are you freaking kidding me?  Did you even play Diablo II online?  Apparently not.

I think Blizzard should rename their company to Pampers, since most of the people on their forums act like toddlers.  I don’t really know what that has to do with this article.  It’s just that I made the mistake of looking at some of the replies to a Blizzard post about upcoming plans for Diablo III today.  LOL.
(It’s always a mistake, reading user comments in the Blizzard forums, for ANY of their games.  Just barely a step up from YouTube comments.)

I guess that’s always the catch to being at the top.  The more rabid a fanbase of something is, the crazier their expectations become.  People can have their weird little D3 drama, but we all know when the expansion comes, despite their delusions fueled by hanging out in the forums every day (where it’s mostly only the people who have something to complain about go), it’s going to sell a ****ton.

I’m not saying that there are not areas where Diablo III could clearly use improvement.  It’s just that the comical melodrama in their forums over people not getting 10,000 hours of enjoyment out of the game is a sight to behold.

So, basically, I expect a lot of whining on the forums over it, while most of the people who don’t bother with the forums probably won’t give a ****.  That’s how pretty much any Blizzard update goes.

Only seen one guy crying here so far.  But that has happened alot with Blizz fanboys over the past 2 months so getting used to it.

    • Jeremy Whallon

Wow, this change is just another “update” to you? Man, talk about drinking the Kool-Aid.

      • http://glacius.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Glacius

I don’t constantly recreate games, so I could not care less.

Also, thank you for your mini-demonstration of my point.  ”Drinking the Kool-Aid.”  Really?  What are you even talking about?

  • Elusive Fox

in the end stuff like this is meaningles – the botters will find a way around it by controlling how fast they creategames, and the non botters will get accussed when they accidentally enter too many games… so yeah.

  • http://twitter.com/Nathiest Nathiest

Wait… people still play this game?

  • http://twitter.com/Tatlreach Michael Salata

It’s too late.  The damage has been done to the D3 economy.  Its literally impossible for a normal person to farm gold in their free time and buy upgrades to complete inferno.

lawl, sooo glad i didn’t pay a penny for this game. blizz got greedy and put profit before playability and that’s what happened here, the economy is screwed, the itemization is like a bag of shake and bake and first and foremost IT GOT STALE FAST!!!.I know ill never get those scant few days it took for me to hit inferno back, but hell at least i wasn’t a sucker and bought the game:P
