Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studios have released a new pair of trailers for Dishonored, where the game’s co-creative directors take markedly different stabs at the same mission — with one approach requiring far more stabbing than the other.
In both scenarios, the player’s task is to infiltrate a bath house called the Golden Cat and take out the club’s two corrupt fat cats. In the first, “stealth” run, the character makes it through undetected, using teleportation, eavesdropping, and fish possession — yes, fish possession — to achieve his goals.
The game’s creators even hint at being able to neutralize your targets without killing them and that it would be, in fact, possible to play the entire game without killing a single person.
That’s not the path taken in the second, M-rated, playthrough, where the player backstabs and blasts his way through the Golden Cat, taking the more direct and bloody route to his quarry.
Both play styles are equally valid, though it’s said that the game will track your decisions and the ending, as well as a few other story points, will change depending on the route you take.
Dishonored comes out October 9 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Here’s the “stealth” trailer; you can watch the “bloody” trailer on the Dishonored YouTube page. Enjoy!
