Dishonored Trailers Show Two Sides Of Gameplay

Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studios have released a new pair of trailers for Dishonored, where the game’s co-creative directors take markedly different stabs at the same mission — with one approach requiring far more stabbing than the other.

In both scenarios, the player’s task is to infiltrate a bath house called the Golden Cat and take out the club’s two corrupt fat cats. In the first, “stealth” run, the character makes it through undetected, using teleportation, eavesdropping, and fish possession — yes, fish possession — to achieve his goals.

The game’s creators even hint at being able to neutralize your targets without killing them and that it would be, in fact, possible to play the entire game without killing a single person.

That’s not the path taken in the second, M-rated, playthrough, where the player backstabs and blasts his way through the Golden Cat, taking the more direct and bloody route to his quarry.

Both play styles are equally valid, though it’s said that the game will track your decisions and the ending, as well as a few other story points, will change depending on the route you take.

Dishonored comes out October 9 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Here’s the “stealth” trailer; you can watch the “bloody” trailer on the Dishonored YouTube page. Enjoy!

This game is under the radar. It looks interesting but I feel like I know nothing about what the game is like outside of assasination missions. Is it open world is there a day night cycle is there anything besides that knife whats the AI like for enemies

What Jason mentioned about the different ways besides combat to complete missions, that excites me quite a bit.

    Keep us apprised.

Killing, ah anyone can kill, capturing your target and selling them into slavery! Now that is style!

Ever since it’s first debut trailer I have kept an eye on it. Ever since they have kept bringing out nothing but intriguing information about the game.
