Ouya has been making waves recently, having reached 5.8 million in donations from their kickstarter program.  And this past week, Square Enix, Red 5 Studios and Onlive all dropped amazing news for Ouya fans everywhere.

To start, Square Enix announced today that gamers will finally be getting Final Fantasy III. Originally re-released as a 3D remake on the Nintendo DS back in 2006, gamers will get their chance at this lost treasure in true high definition on Ouya.

And if you are not sure whether to drop coin on this missing link, there will be a demo available at launch.

If this wasn’t enough to get you excited, Mark Kern, the ex-World of Warcraft lead and current CEO of Red 5 Studios, had this to say to about FireFall possibly joining Ouya’s game lineup after an interview with Eurogamer.net;

For the price of the Kickstarter why not try it? Yeah, they may fail. Some people are saying ‘oh, it’s vaporware.’ But I want to get behind people that want to challenge the status quo, who want to try something different.

Finally to round all this out, Onlive has joined forces with Ouya to bring the entire library of Onlive games to the Ouya console.

Gamers will find a slew of games to play and up to 30 minutes of trials for the ones you are not sure about buying, yet.

Ouya is making great connections with gamers and developers alike, but it remains to be seen whether it will it be enough for this new console to carve out a place for itself.

    IGN said FF3 on the Ouya is going to be just like the PSP version, which is a port of the DS one with slightly better graphics.

      Interesting. Personally the matter of where the game comes from is not on my “oh noes” list just as long as the game plays well, I will be exploring, killing, looting and consuming the story long into the night.

    is this really a big deal?  They already released FF III for android. Since OUYA is android-based, it’s no big deal for them to say “oh ok, here, here’s the game”.  And I’m pretty sure it’s the 3d conversion cause that’s the Android version of the game.  That’s basically like anyone that has already made an Android game saying “our game will be on OUYA”.  Or am I missing something here?
     And while Firefall on OUYA sounds interesting, I really can’t believe it til I see it in action, fully populated.  Then again, that’s what my PC’s for anyways.

     I’m not knocking the OUYA, I agree that it could be a gamechanger for the console market, opening doors for indie developers, etc if it lives up to what it promises to be.  I just think most news regarding it is blown out of proportion.  It could also just be my bias cause I’m mostly a PC gamer.

      I’m mostly a PC Gamer as well, but am excited to see what the Ouya does for gaming as a whole. Why do you feel something is “blown” out of proportion? People are excited for the Ouya and what it could mean for us as gamers. I, for one, welcome all news about the Ouya. Read/watch the article for the news and filter out the “hype” on your own. They’re not going to change their personal excitement, so read it at face value.

        for one, some big name (in this case, SquEnix) says they’ll support the OUYA with X game, which just so happens to already be in Android form. Which means unless they’re doing some big overhaul of graphics, it’s literally the game they’ve already released for Android platform.  They do no extra work on their part, but everyone (and I mean press too) is all “OMGBIGNAMEISDOINGTHISFOROUYA”.
         The same happened with Mojang/Minecraft upon OUYA’s initial appearance on Kickstarter. The quote from Mojang on OUYA’s page basically only said “if it’s good, it’ll be good”…Notch said himself the actual statement from his company was delightfully vague.

        Regardless of how I came across in the above statements, I’m still hopeful that the OUYA succeeds and hope it changes things for gaming, especially for indie developers.

    I forget – is the original FFIII the one with Kefka or is that FFVI renamed FFIII in NA?
    That one was my favourite

      Kefka was in FFVI renamed to III, so this is the true FFIII.  It’s already available on DS, PSP, and Android.  And yea, VI is one of my favs of all time too.  I still listen to the soundtrack occasionally lol.
