Shag A Gamer Launches YouTube Videos Giving Advice To Virgin Gamers
33 Comments

A while back we told you about a new site from the Date a Gamer crowd called Shag a Gamer.  The purpose of this site being to give gamers a way to meet someone for a little one-on-one time without the actual hassle of dating or getting to know each other.

Well, it seems that Shag A Gamer has been looking at polls and has discovered that more than a third of gamers participating in them claim to be virgins.   That’s 184 people out of 500.  Obviously, this is a huge problem in the gaming community and something has to be done about it.

Luckily, Shag A Gamer has us covered — or well… at least has the men covered.

The site has set up a YouTube channel [May Not Be Safe For Work] under the name Date A Gamer which hosts videos of several lovely lasses giving guys tips on not only how to date a gamer but how to date a “sexy” one and how to get her into bed on the first date.

There are currently four videos giving different bits of advice and is seems like there may be more to come.

So, at this point, I only have one question.  Will there be “sexy” gamer guys doing videos for the site soon telling us that they love to be given gifts and the best way to impress a man is with cooking?

**Updated** Their YouTube channel has been “terminated due to repeated or severe violations of our Community Guidelines and/or claims of copyright infringement.”

I must be in the minority that thinks one night stands and giving it up
on the first date is just lame.  Give me a quality gal that wants more
    than just nookie any day.

EDIT: And it seems the YT channel for this video is now terminated due to repeated violations. heh

A new low for the Internet? Hardly. But it’s still fairly demoralizing nonetheless.

I’d love to date a fellow gamer.  One night stand?  No thanks.

Just date someone nice.  You can always teach them to play games. :D

         Fair point.  =P

Q please get me up to speed on the rationale behind this article? Would appreciate it. Thanks.

“So, at this point, I only have one question. Here, let me give you a few tips. Tag the article as NSFW as people will be more inclined to check it out…that is if you really want them SAUCY SITE HITS GOOGLE MONEY DOLLA DOLLA BILL YO,

To be honest Gamebreaker reporting this has made me lose some of the faith I had in your guys…

  • http://twitter.com/cosmic_kirby CosmicKirby

I don’t quite understand the disdain for Quint posting this article.  The tone is obviously against the channel, not in anyway for it.

“Obviously this is a huge problem…” given the way that line is delivered and reached with no proof other than a statistic and it’s obviously meant to be taken sarcastically.
Though is does come off as a bit… Jealous? That were weren’t videos aimed at women and only aimed at men.

    • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Not at all jealous.  Just more offended on behalf of the men.  In general the videos point to the fact that it’s male gamers who have the “problem” of being virgins.  And apparently 1/3 of male gamers… That a LOT.

I’d like to point out that in my incredibly long history of knowing men gamers, I’ve only known one past the age of 18 who was still a virgin and that was due to religious choices.

And of course, the “advice” given I did take issue with. Really? Women like it when someone gives them things, pays attention to them and might cook a meal? Don’t men like these same things as well? That’s what the latter part was meant to imply.

In other words… Ground breaking news on how to get along with other people in general.

      • http://twitter.com/cosmic_kirby CosmicKirby

Well, “jealous” was more of a joke.   But I would completely agree with you about this channel.  It’s aimed at males under and oddly sexist assumption that male gamers being virgins is a problem, and then goes on to only give advice for one gender, being fair to neither.

The site itself is fine, if you’re on a dating site to simply hook up then by all means look for others who want the same.  But the channel just comes off as,  I don’t know, demoralizing?

Then it goes on to give advice that is essentially common sense and applies to both genders…  I don’t really get what they were trying to accomplish on the youtubes.

  • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

In all fairness to most of you, the sarcasm would have likely come through better had you all been able to see the videos.  They were hilariously bad and I have no idea who they were really directed at.  I don’t know any adult males personally who are dumb enough to not already know people like gifts, attention, etc.  (Notice I say “people”.)

And I don’t think any of you would consider a girl rolling around on a zebra print blanket in a tank top, undies and stiletto heels while telling you you’d better not forget her birthday to be a gamer  – even if they are nice to look at.

But yeah… don’t take any of this as me being offended that there are videos of scantly clad girls… You have seen Cosplayed… Right?  I’m just offended by a company marketing itself TO gamers so badly plays off the stereotype in the process.  Both of the “sad male gamer” who lives in his mother’s basement and never gets to date a real girl and the “hot gamer chick” who at any moment might lick her controller or iPad in a moment of hot gaming pleasure.

Don’t get me wrong.. I know these people do exist to some extent.  But most gamers I know are married couples, or college kids just worrying about work and getting out of school before they build a debt larger than a house, or high school kids who do not need to worry about hooking up with random people off the internet.

”In all fairness to most of you, the sarcasm would have likely come through better had you all been able to see the videos”
After reading some of your replies here, I have a better idea of how the article was supposed to read.  But even as quickly as I found the article, the videos were already down by the time I tried to watch them.  Someone moved fast on those.  lol

Knowing that the article was meant in jest at their expense changes the whole thing.  I still stand by what I said earlier, but my view of the article is drastically different now.  :)

      • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

And your initial point still stands.  Not only is it lame, it’s dangerous.  And yeah.. They moved swiftly on the videos. Mostly likely because by the time I’d seen them they’d received a ton of negative and angry comments.  There wasn’t a single comment that wasn’t someone being offended.  No one went “Hey man… This is great! Everything I needed to know about getting that sexy gamer chick I’ve had my eye on.”

think you can make better videos for them using a talking animal (like those cat videos)
dem girls, think they know the meaning of agro, buffs, RNG, loot ?

    it’s back up

    • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Interesting.. It’s missing one of the videos.  Maybe they made them take one down before it could go back up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/inkogni.alex Inkogni Alex

now this is something il check out, not for me
for my close friends, yea… just happens that hes name is Mike (il just leave at that)

  • caab

“I like to be surprised, and by surprises I mean being given things”  and thats about how far I made it into those videos.

    • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

I watched that one all the way though because we had intended to post one at the top and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t TOO bad.  The amount of eyerolls it warranted was insane.  I mean.. I guess the distinction they’re making is that these are “sexy” gamer girls.   But personally, I don’t find shallowness or greed sexy.

      • caab

I think you can remove the gamer tag from the equation, those qualities are not attractive period.

        • http://quintlyn.com/ QuintLyn Bowers

Fair point.. But that is what they’re trying to sell here. The idea of the sexy gamer girl.

  • http://twitter.com/HallusH HallusH

first wth is that “promo” video. looks like any cheap camsite crap that pops everywhere.
sure “oh look tits and slap a gamer on that and print money”
btw i wonder how many fake profiles it has to fish the random “uk geek” as they say into subing for that crap.
