A few years back, a friend of mine introduced me to a little game called Titan Quest, an extremely fun ARPG made at Iron Lore Entertainment in 2006.
When Arthur Bruno, Lead designer on Titan Quest was told that the company wouldn’t be doing a sequel, he decided to head out on his own and found Crate Entertainment, acquired the rights to the Titan Quest engine and begin work on a spiritual successor to the game called Grim Dawn.
Built on a souped-up version of the Iron Lore engine and tools, Grim Dawn is an ARPG based in a Victorian era world in which war wages between two otherworldly groups and humans find themselves almost extinct.
The game will be DRM free, feature robust molding tools and feature a open-world design with randomized elements so that each game will be different.
Grim Dawn has been in production for a while and now that they have some of the game to show us, Crate is kicking off the Grim Dawn Kickstarter project. According to Bruno, many of the things that they have listed as features and goals of the game that we may consider overly ambitious are already implemented.
If it can really capture the fun of the originals, this could be something special.
