Gamers Take Down Diablo In Hardcore Mode On Inferno Difficulty.

The bragging rights for world first kills in World of Warcraft are always hunted by the hardest of the hardcore.

But what if the members of Stars, Method, Blood Legion and many others only had one chance to get the encounter right or risk loosing not only their character, but all the gear they had acquired? Seems like it would be a little more challenging, doesn’t it?

As most of you know Diablo 3‘s Hardcore mode is just that and is the ultimate achievement to be earned. But as Patch 1.0.3 draws near, the overall difficulty of Diablo‘s content is being reduced. So what better way to solidify your place in the history books than to complete Hardcore Inferno Mode before the patch hits?

And this is exactly what Canadian gamers Kripp and partner Krippi set out to do. In their 25 minute kill video we see the completion of the World First Hardcore Inferno Diablo kill and potentially the only one that will happen on this higher difficulty.

So congratulations to Kripp and Krippi whose cooperative gameplay truly proved to be the most effective strategy!

Gamers Take Down Diablo In Hardcore Mode On Inferno Difficulty.

amazing how the game gets progressively worse with every new patch. can’t wait for 1.1 pvp to uninstall.

  • falknerblitz

    I don’t understand the reference…..someone explain please?

The loot from it just goes to show you how freaking terrible this game really is. You kill the penultimate boss in the game and he drops jack and s*** for loot? Oh you want loot go use the RMAH and give us more of your money because we designed this gear based grindfest so that you have to unless you want to grind for hundreds of hours… such a blatant money grab it makes me want to throw up. Yes, IMAD…

Not to take away from Kripp and Krippi’s accomplishment though with my bit**ing, great job getting that done guys!

      > The loot from it just goes to show you
      > how freaking terrible this game really is.

It’s a game, it’s not a job. The reward should be enjoyable gameplay, not some pixels at the end. If you don’t enjoy the actual gameplay, complain about _that_ (and stop wasting your time with a bad game), not about some numbers on some “item” that doesn’t even exist.

And, in this specific case, do you think any virtual item could be worth more to those players than knowing they were the first (and probably last) to get the kill?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Feyd-Darkholme/100000194391744 Feyd Darkholme

The gameplay is enjoyable maybe on one or two play-throughs depending on your tolerance for repetition. The thing that makes it not enjoyable for me more than anything is that I can easily look at the game mechanics decisions and see quite clearly how they were designed to compliment the RMAH. Which makes me sick personally. It’s rather like how an aesthetically attractive person can be rendered “ugly” because they have a terrible personality. Although with D3 in my opinion the gameplay was never that great to begin with so it wasn’t exactly a stretch for it to become un-fun for me.

I would argue that the gear grind is an integral part of the gameplay since you literally cannot progress if you’re gear doesn’t vertically progress enough. It’s “fun” progressing and getting cool new gear for many people. The problem for me comes in when they purposely design the game mechanics around the RMAH. It’s feels like dirty money grubbing instead of just designing the game to be fun so people keep playing.

To your second question, only if the items were unique, which they aren’t. I think that anyone that plays a game with vertical gear-based progression to be competitive like they do would feel that way. It’s either got to be a clear status symbol that only could have been acquired there or a clear upgrade to current gear.

Method, Stars comparison….you guys don’t realize that Kripparrian is a member of Exodus, a top 10 World WoW guild? 6th in the world 25 man raid. He’s already a well established gamer, he won the WoW Ironman challenge (level to 85 in only greys and whites, no dungeons, no BGs). He had a huge team supporting him in this endeavour, feeding him gear (which is not to take away from the achievement, just made it quicker) and watching his livestream. Over 44k people watched him and Krippi kill HC Diablo.

2Legit 2Quit was an M.C. Hammer song from the 90s. Awesome song.

They’re also going for 100% attachments next. Already started. good start with the only HC Inferno Diablo done.

Yeah I was there watching it live and heard how Bashiok was saying they weren’t the world first.

It was an amazing video and the fight was crazy.

  • dagatkarimlan

It’s nice seeing that this news made it hear at GB.  Great jobs guys.  Just a few clarifications though, for those who are interested.

    - Regarding the nerf, they weren’t nerfing the coop play.  They were nerfing the inferno difficulty level in general.  Now, inferno is significantly easier to beat than before (and that’s putting it mildly).  On top of the rare packs (the hardest content in diablo) being nerfed, you can now get the best items in the game from any act in Inferno.  Before, there was no safe way to farm Act 3 in HC.  Kripp and Krippi basically killed diablo in gear one tier lower than what diablo was balanced around.

    - Blizzard didn’t nerf inferno because it was completed once.  In fact, the Kripps had to push that day because they found out in the morning that the patch was going to hit.  Basically, they had 9 hours to complete Act IV with the gear they had at hand if they were to hit their goal.

    - Bashiok’s tweet wasn’t misunderstood.  He originally thought that the kill wasn’t the first HC Inferno kill, but later said that he mistook “Act IV unlocked” with “Act IV completed” or something to that effect.

    Cheers

I thought they were changing it so that mob damage in multiplayer won’t scale up with the number of players in the game anymore. sounds like a (much needed) nerf to me.

      • Kagitaar

I don’t think that one came through in 1.0.3. I definitely could not find it in the patch notes.

        • http://twitter.com/videobuzzard David Manchester

Multiplayer NPC Damage nerf came in before 1.0.3 so they didn’t do it pre-nerf. Its probably harder now in fact with the nerfs to player character damage in the patch. But its still and impressive achievement.

          • Kagitaar

Okay, thanks, must have missed it.

Yeah, the IAS nerf at least made it equal if not harder.

      • dagatkarimlan

        That was hotfixed before 1.0.3.

  • Jediwolf

Oh, and Krippi’s not Canadian :p

is it too late to get my 60 bucks back?

    • http://twitter.com/zerconi Samuli Rauatmaa

Why does everyone say this? Go utilize the RMAH and gain profit.

  • Kagitaar

What is with the whining about the nerfs? They reduced the damage of most of Inferno so that you can try a build between tank and glass cannon, which was very much needed, but at the same time they nerfed IAS into the ground, effectively breaking the majority of the builds that were needed to survive before (due to life steal, staggering crits, stuns, resource building, etc). The whole point of the exercise was to even out the playing field a bit so you weren’t forced into certain builds and skills. Did it succeed? No idea yet.

  • 1970Hendrix1970

you probably know kripp as Kripparian from wow self proclaimed worlds greatest hunter….

  • http://twitter.com/Tatlreach Mike S

They forgot to mention that Kripparian was also the one to complete the Ironman challenge for WoW.  Many knew that inferno difficulty and was a ridiculous gear check and required you to grind a ton to even attempt Act 2.  Kripp and Krippi mindlessly grinded for many,12 hour days killing goblins to get the gear to even make it possible to kill clear HC inferno.  The nerf was needed.

2 legit to quit! M.C. Hammer… ITS HAMMER TIME!

I heard Arsenio Hall is getting a late night talk show again so maybe he can invite M.C. Hammer on and get all these young pups schooled. Think M.C. Hammer is a pastor in some church now.

    he got totally owned.

they stream on twitch tv :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/fredrik.gardsio Fredrik Fronken Gardsiö

Blizzard has destroyed WoW by nerfing it into the ground, making all the content pointless by ways of not forcing anyone to actually learn the game, this has been going on since TBC when their 30% nerf hit, and since then, WoW has not been able to recover.

They are now moving D3 in the same direction, making everything cheap as hell, making content much easier so that everyone can clear it the first time around without actually getting good at the game, it’s an extremely flawed view on game design and i really hope they wake up and realise that some content arent meant for everyone, that some people Have to practice on the game in order to see all the content.

I just hope that this is the first and last nerf to hit D3, i know that is isn’t, but i’m naive and still hoping, cause i want D3 to still be a game i can play to have fun, and not feel like a chore.

  • gary lusk

krippi was the guy who got the first iron man challenge in wow…maybe the only, haven’t checked in a while..

    • Joseph Gabrielli

That was Kripp not Krippi. Krippi is Kripparrian(Kripp)s  Wizard friend

  • Michael Duckfield

    Disregard

  • http://twitter.com/zerconi Samuli Rauatmaa

They didn’t just lower the monster difficulty in multiplayer as Mike S said. They lowered the difficulty of Inferno Act 2, 3 and 4 and removed the +dmg from monsters in multiplayer.

Please let someone who plays the game alot announce big news like this. I love you MikeB, but that was a bit embarrassing.
