Aside from the beautiful games that come out of it, one of the best things about the indie games industry is the mutual support that many of the developers have for one another.
It’s hard for a fledgeling company to get funding and promotion for their game.
But, people like Camile Guermonprez, Co-founder of French company Arkedo Studio are there to help.
With the completion of Arkedo’s latest project Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit, Guermonprez is exploring other ideas including a type of publisher that will pay indie devs for making prototypes. He’s even bought a house for developers to be in together and have game jams.
Guermonprez said that the company will be called Nice Guys and will let all participating developers keep their IPs. They will give money to the developers when they actually need it rather than put them through a few months of contracts and waiting.
Help has also come from Pix’n Love developer Pastagames (French Site) who are putting in tools including everything they have designed and developed over the last ten years.
Nice Guys is will even help companies outside of France. They are already helping developers from as far away as Japan.
