Torchlight II is on its way. Finally.
For those who may not remember, Perfect World and Runic Games announced their collaboration on the Torchlight MMO right around the same time they announced the single player game.
Luckily for players, they held off on the MMO and gave us a great single player experience that introduced us to the world of Torchlight. And all the while they continued to work on the MMO.
Now the moment we’ve all been waiting on has arrived, Runic games has put out the opening cinematic trailer for Torchlight II.
The game picks up years after the Heroes of Torchlight saved the world from Ordrak. As often happens, someone else has taken the fallen villain’s power and is using it to wreak havoc in the world.
It’s your job to stop it.
It seems that Torchlight II isn’t really an MMO, but instead an online and LAN based co-op, with a matchmaking service. It will also allow players to create customized characters and chose one of four all new classes.
An added bonus for the game is that players won’t be confined to the town of Torchlight any more. The game will be “open world” and randomized levels will create a new play experience every time.
Like many people, I’ll be keeping a close eye on how this develops.
