Penny Arcade Kickstarter Goal Predicted By GameBreaker Fans

When Penny Arcade announced its Kickstarter campaign about a month ago, the Internet responded in a big way, opening its wallets so they could enjoy PA’s high-class style of entertainment with fewer — or ultimately no — ads.

The target number was $500,000 by Aug. 15, and as you can see by the Kickstarter page itself, Penny Arcade made that mark, by just a smidge, finishing at $528,144.

pc games O/U Recap: Penny Arcade KickstarterThe few of you who voted in our Over/Under seem to have agreed with me that PA would make its goal, with one of you getting specific enough to say that the exact total would be $837,290. I’m sorry, your bid is over, you’re disqualified. Good luck in the bonus round.

Then there was this guy:

Over – because there are a lot of stupid people with free money.

So how much did you contribute, chum?

” because there are a lot of stupid people with free money.”

So typical. First, free money makes no sense. Second, you’d have to be pretty smart (at least in something) to have that much money anyway.

We donated 2,500 which may seem like a lot to people like that guy who don’t have any workable skills/intelligence and don’t know how to save money. But we’re not stupid and we don’t have “free money” lying around everywhere (wish we did!). We had to dig into our savings a bit, but we love PA and what they do. And we opted for the reward where Tycho will read/critique a work of yours. My husband is currently working on a novel (almost done), and this was just too perfect. You won’t pay quite that much for some random Joe’s editing service, maybe about half, but I’d gladly pay extra for Jerry Holkins as well as the money going to a noble cause.

Anyway, good job PA keep up the works.

See, you fit the bill of exactly whom that person was talking about. You took money from your savings to give to people that didn’t need it, but merely wanted it.

  • Thorghan

So my tip of 837,290 $ was a little bit too high, ok, but disqualified?
    *sniff*
It’s not my fault, that my evil plan of world domination didn’t work out, so I wasn’t able to donate more money. Good minions are hard to find these days.
