Sitting around the house bored on a Friday night? No scheduled raid, and that copy of Assassin’s Creed just isn’t doing it for you?

Well, I may have the solution.

Dating sites dedicated to gamers have been popping up over the last few years and most of them try to play off the eHarmony format of finding your perfect match. But lets face it. Not all gamers are worried about finding that guy or girl who can be the healer to their tank.

Nope, some people are just looking for a PUG for the night.

After running for a while, the people at Date A Gamer relized that this was what a lot of adult gamers were in fact looking for and decided to create a site specifically for gamers over the age of 18 who were just looking to hook up for the night. This new site is called — cleverly enough — Shag A Gamer - Warning… This site is very NSFW.

According to an article in Eurogamer, the head of Date A Gamer — Tom Thurlow — believes that by creating Shag A Gamer they are giving people who may not be comfortable with most social situations a way to “get some action”.

As is the case with most dating sites, there is a fee to actually be able to contact other members on the site. You can register an account for free and browse profiles but if you you find someone you’re interested in you’re going to have to drop a little over $30 a month to be able to contact them.

  Hey, at least it’s more honest (and more likely to deliver) than any “dating” site claiming to find someone “emotionally compatible” with you.
  
  I just wonder if they let users sort potential partners by game type. After all, someone used to driving games might be clueless about how to handle a joystick, and console players probably lack the skills to spin a scroll wheel.

I imagine the dating pool will be a bit small if you have to pay that much just to message people. If they made the site a bit cheaper like $5-$10 the dating pool would be MUCH larger.

  Wow… you know what. $30 does seem a bit much. But I just googled eHarmony’s prices. One month for a US user is $60. If you buy a 12 month sub to it then it drops to $19.99.

    I’m used to a site like OKCupid.com It’s free even for messaging and you just get added perks if you pay their $10/mo subscription.
    
    It’d be great if a gamer dating (or shagging) website had a similar model as OKC. The free-for-basic-user-account model keeps the dating pool pretty large in most cities. The most important thing is the size of the dating pool.

    The difference is the majority of people on a site like eHarmony are looking for a serious relantionship and a partner for their future so they can justify the investment.
