Skyrim Mods Vastly Improves Graphics Quality

PC Gamers don’t need to be told that they can enjoy better graphics than their console-playing peers. Skyrim mods have long been a big reason to pick up the game for computer, and now that reason is even more compelling. A video posted by SkyrimTuner shows us how a little innovation and creativity can go a long way.

What Skyrim Mods should you use? With your settings on Ultra, the RealVision ENB V1.3 Climates of Tamriel mod, and a bit of .ini tweaking, all this majesty can be yours… as long as you have a kick-ass gaming computer. The video description gives the specs of the PC that SkyrimTuner used, and it’s quite impressive, but not so good as to make it impossible for an enthusiast to build.

WIth how gorgeous these mods are, it makes me wonder how moddable the graphics for Elder Scrolls Online will be if at all.

Question is, will they allow mods like this? (Graphical enhancement/tuner)

      Addons, etc…

it’s an mmo there wont be any mods.  there will probably be addons for like the ui and stuff that wow has sometime in the future after it launches.  But anyone expecting or hoping for any level of customization like Skyrim is going to be sorely sorely disappointed.

I’m 100% sure TESO won’t be anywhere near as modable, definitely no graphic enchanting mods. I won’t expect more than what WoW offers, if even that.

    Beautiful mod!
Skip to 3:00 if you don’t care to see half naked ladies running around,
but still want to see how pretty Skyrim can look

I can’t even take the video seriously because of her non-armour :P

@twitter-255694915:disqus I’d have to say they won’t be at all, the reason you can is because it’s supported for the single player games, ESO is an MMO, and MMO’s traditionally don’t have modding support to that extent.

man if modders can do this how come the developers couldnt?

It’s worthy to note that what you see here that makes the image quality so amazing is the ENB, the mods used are a small benefit perhaps, but more a matter of taste than anything else.
The ENB project does not have any .esp files and does not change the game content in any way. Simply put it is a d3d injector/wrapper that grabs the data that skyrim sends to the GPU and does some awesome postprocessing magic to it, adding color correction, ambient occlusion, depth of field, among other things.

However depending on the preset for it that is used (there are a ton of different people who made presets for it) It is quite heavy on the FPS, and the ENB preset I use myself really makes it drop from perfectly smooth to 20-25 fps in some heavy areas.

But then again, it’s an incredible feel to have a dragon swoop overhead in a blurry flash of wings and fire as you scramble for cover. It’s so pretty that it’s worth it, but with traditional mods and texture packs alone you will not get this kind of quality. You’ll really need a very good machine and an ENB in my opinion to reach this level.

edit: Also, devs can do this, but then the system requirements shoot through the roof and it’s really only a handful of enthusiasts who benefit from it who probably would buy the game anyway, netting them very little gain overall.

And Gary was just punching fish in the lake while we were watching this, not sure if my PC can handle all those mods + Skyrim.
sad that we didnt get to see some huge dragon fights
