The upcoming RPG based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of books is coming in early June.
That’s right, Game of Thrones fans, you can get your mitts on Cyanide Studio‘s slice of Westeros when Game of Thrones releases in a mere couple of months.
If that seems a bit early to you, you’re certainly not alone. As Eurogamer points out, hopefully the game is actually ready to ship, and not just being forced to store shelves to coincide with the second season finale of the HBO series.
While Martin had “creative input” in the making of the game, it seems like Cyanide and publisher Focus Home Interactive might be sacrificing quality for speed.
Fans of Game of Thrones — both the books and the show — will be quick to tell you that this is a series deserving of the utmost respect and attention. A series this revered should get the Skyrim treatment, not the X-Men: Destiny treatment. Judging by the trailers we’ve seen for Game of Thrones, it seems like we might get the latter rather than the former.
Game of Thrones will be out in June for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms.
