Risen 2: Dark Waters is a RPG that seeks to allow gamers to “live the dream” of being a pirate.
According to the new “making of” video posted on Eurogamer, developers Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes are focused on making the Risen 2‘s swashbuckling battles deep experiences.
Not only can you mix fencing and gunplay in battle, but you can also play pirate tricks on enemies, such as distracting foes with parrots.
As Risen 2: Dark Waters is a RPG, players will ultimately have control over what type of skills their character possesses. The developers have been hard at work creating an experience that suits different types of gamers. While combat can’t be avoided in some situations, silver-tongued characters can talk their way out of others.
I’ve had my doubts about Risen 2, but I take comfort in knowing that the developers want the swordplay to be more than just generic hack-and-slash action RPG fare.
Risen 2: Dark Waters is coming out on April 27 for PC, and May 22 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
