Yeeeessss!!! Perfect casting for the show!

    what happened to the girl

    she just left

    • Elevens

We were told on the livestream that she had a neighbor doing construction or something(that’s what the banging was before she left).

yeah our neighbour thought it would be fun to do some mid afternoon wall demolishing, without warning anyone living next door to them

Not to be rude, but Corina has no business with this. Get Mike B since he has some major insights into PvP.

    • testguy111

seconded. Corina doesn’t fit in. and she seems kinda humorless. MikeB would be great, but I’m afraid he’s too busy

    • Shagral

I’d prefer different 4th host every other show. That way you can bring awesome people from GBTV  (like MikeB) without them having to commit to the show for every week.

guys there will be one more map, watch the pvp video arena net just did it has a pirate ship in it…they talk about it as well, FIND OUT INFOOOOOO!…and thanks for giving us ED for GW2 pvp it will add an edge to anyone who watches this shows play im sure!

Great show! Anything with Ed is a success.

  • M H

Great to see Ed in a new show and really nice to see Matt back too.  Over all I really enjoyed the show and how everyone keeps up the hard number grinding so I don’t hasss toooo :)

Why it no play for me?

  • Jason Cloutier

Don’t know if I would have showed a mesmer build with 5 trait points left, and someone that built power but is focused on shattering. I guess it kind of helps, but this build to me is all over the place.

  • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Woot, woot, woot.  Great seeing Ed with a hardcore PvP show.  So pleased seeing Matt again. Hope Corina can get her audio problems under control. (Go PvP that neighbour’s ass down the street.)

  • http://twitter.com/EdwardvanRaak Edward van Raak

It was a bit jenky at first but it got better at the end.

Also I think the guild lord should not be attacked by 5 people, that’s just way to risky. In some matches we tried to do quick 2 man ganks. If they bring back all 4-5 players to defend they will loose capture points and we just ran out of their base to counter, however if they brought back 1-2 players we had a chance of killing them and taking out the guild lord with a quick burst.

I had an awesome moment where I used the guardian blocking wall to stop enemies from coming in the guild lord area while my friendly engineer finished off the guild lord.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1339406775 Matthew Riddle

It’d be nice if the Keep Lord grew in strength between 5-on-5 and 8-on-8, so that you need ~ 2 people for the 5-on-5 and around 3/4 for the 8-8. I’m not sure if this is already happening.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1339406775 Matthew Riddle

Ctrl+T for the target symbol! Thanks! I was wondering about that. It seems to be such a needed tool in PvP, for small Asuras, for Mesmers, etc. Could you bind it to another letter, like just T?

    • Elevens

If you hit “T” after someone has targeted a player with ctrl+T, you will target that player.  It’s the same mechanic that was in GW1 and works really well to help your party focus fire.

  • http://www.facebook.com/combustible.lemon.9 Oblivious Prime

Great show. I hope you continue to talk about builds and strategies and also devote time to WvW since that is pvp as well.

  • Lediath

I like the GuildCast crew’s chemistry much better.  Really I only watched this PVP show for Ed Park’s insights… the other two seemed a bit out of place.  Maybe Ed can just be a 5th on GuildCast?

  • http://twitter.com/linki90 Linki

No offense but the part where you showed the mesmer gameplay and started analyzing it kind of ruined the whole episode for me, if you are going to analyze that build without even seeing that he left 5 trait points behind AND used steady weapons! The purple one with equal min/max dmg, he did no damage with his build and none of you even pointed it out. I will ofcourse continue watching this show as well as guildcast, but some of you should have noticed the same things the chat did yesterday. There was nothing to learn from that clip, it could only make you a worse player. That should have been a “What not to do in Spvp” clip instead.

    • http://twitter.com/EdwardvanRaak Edward van Raak

Yeah that was a really really stupid mistake made by the player and everyone on the show. He did absolutely no damage…his crits didn’t even reach 100 damage.

      • http://twitter.com/tamgros Matthew Sorg

Each bleed should have done (1/2)*80 + ConditionDamageAttribute/20… but he seemed to be doing less than that as well, which made me not even think to look back at his weapon because weapon dmg is unrelated to condition dmg. But that is really funny. It has me thinking about “steady man challenges” where your guild tries to win a random tourney only using steady weapons.

About some other comments, the main thing I wanted to get across is synergy between skills didn’t exactly work because he had a clone shattering dependent build that lacked clone generation because he mainly used the greatsword and not the staff, which generates more clones… There certainly was a lot more to cover, but that’s why it’s a weekly show! We’ll keep improving the content and how we construct our insight. These comments really help.

As an aside, I totally derped last weekend and only used 40 points… 30 unused points while playing 8 tourneys on my necro. How many of those tourneys did we win? 8. It’s more important how you use whatever build you have, which is what we were trying to talk about… but obviously room for improvement on our parts.

Aside numero deux, the steady items are fantastic. It’s going to allow us, the community, to reverse engineer any damage calculation on any skill… Transparency, me like.

        • Old Ben

It would be interesting if leaving trait points unused gave you some sort of alternative benefit, like a flat increase to base stats.

  • Odeezee

decent start to the show guys. a couple of things that i noticed though; there were a lot of moments where Gary would ask a question and there would be dead air. maybe asking people by name directly would help alleviate that. maybe get notes from the player in the videos regarding what he was trying to do at specific points in the video which were mistakes and or accomplishments and you guys can critique them. maybe going through the build calculator in real time so as to show us what the traits chosen were and maybe after showcasing the video you could go with what you guys would do to improve upon the build.

the Mesmer that you guys showcased did not spend his last 5 trait points and that really irked me as all i was thinking was, what a waste.
oh and you guys should showcase the finisher moves and include the cow finisher for the lawls!

  • http://www.facebook.com/chris.cooney.330 Chris Cooney

Will we get a proper rss link for this show? Also would like one for Gameplay as well, some of us enjoy these on our mobiles etc….

Agreed. I am usually watching on my iPhone.

  • transtemporal

Top stuff guys, looking forward to the next one! I actually like the focussed nature of this one over guildcast (which I also love, but can be a bit rambling). :-)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Shawna-Daniels/1135007726 Shawna Daniels

Matt and Ed were great, I always enjoy watching Ed talk about PvP.
A lot of the tips they talk about for condition-based builds are really great, not only for the mesmer. I plan on playing a condition build necro so the suggestion to try and use weapons and skills that are multihit is very helpful. I look forward to a show someday discussing the necro. There’s 4 more Wednesdays until release so I’ll cross my fingers.
Great show, thanks alot GBTV for the continued excellent coverage of GW2.

well gg did say from the start it was going to be a real nuts and bolts show…plenty of other shows to joke around on.  although rotating a host or two each week would keep things fresh

Hey Guys great show, I found this really useful as a new GW 2 player.  I would love to see some PVP Basics segments as well being a new player, things like basic BG strategies for the different bgs, maybe a build of the week etc .  I thought Ed and Matt were spot on.  I think if you wanted a different 4th Justin Lowe needs to start playing GW 2

This show has a lot of potential. I know there are a lot of folk like me who love to min/max and theory-craft. I don’t think it necessarily has to stay 100% PVP, since a lot of the combat in GW2 carries over on both sides; due to the lack of the “trinity”. So far I like the concept, and I’ll continue to watch as it improves. I think a bit more emphasis should be put on team dynamics, for example when Matt pointed out the Guardians working together to push enemies out of the capture point. Professions in GW2 work very differently together when mixed and matched…

Other than that, I know it’s been said before, but I’d like to see Mike Bizzle (aka Fony) on the show.

Just a question, how can i contact Gamebreaker.tv? I need to ask them a something.

  • http://twitter.com/Patrikules Patrick Hargan

the guy is only using 65/70 of his trait points…

    • http://www.facebook.com/CharlieTheUnicorny Charlieh Tha Uniornh

He likes to play with skill, and doenst care for a few more or less trait points^^

    • Old Ben

Yes, I was surprised that none of the panel members mentioned this.

Also, he was only using traits from tier 1 on his first trait line. What does that say about Arena Net’s theory that traits 11 and 12 are so powerful they need to be on a separate tier?

It’s nice to know they’re putting more people in charge of balancing skills and traits, maybe they’ve finally realized the this kind of tiering makes no sense for different abilities (it would only make sense if abilities on tier 2 were improved versions of the ones on tier 1), and have decided to simply nerf the most powerful abilities and improve the weak ones until they’re as close as possible.

They’ll probably have to keep balancing them for at least a couple of weeks after release, anyway, after they have some solid data from WvW.

      • http://twitter.com/Patrikules Patrick Hargan

Yes definitely.  I played an engineer this last bwe and found that I used pretty much every single 10/20/30 trait selection in each category in the various builds i was doing.  And very rarely would i choose the 11 and 12 ranked traits unless it specifically applied to the build/rotation i wanted to do.

  • Joseph Gabrielli

I’m sorry, but she isn’t really applying anything to this show, should remove her for someone with comic relief

  • http://twitter.com/DavidBarnard8 David Barnard

First time watching Matt, but have been following Ed for awhile now, and I think they work well together.  I enjoyed both of their insights.  Gary “drives the bus” with his usual aplomb.  There seemed to be some reluctance/hesitancy to really dig into the dissection of the player-submitted build.  I wouldn’t necessarily suggest cutting this segment, but I’m not really sure why there wasn’t more critical analysis.

I would also like to see a segment added where the hosts roll out their own “builds of the week” for discussion once the game launches.

Thanks guys, keep up the good work!

  • Mike Hutson

The show was great! Too bad Carina had neighbor construction issues. It would have been nice to see what she could add to the discussions.

For the build analysis part, it would be nice if maybe everyone went over it before the show or something to be able to really get into every crevice with their critiques. It seemed a bit like everyone had only briefly looked over it, or was seeing it for the first time, and as others pointed out, some obvious things were overlooked (e.g. only 65 trait points). I loved how you guys pointed out what to expect out of the class and build. I would like to see more of that, like what particular playstyle the build might promote over other possibilities maybe, and how the expectations compare to the actual gameplay. It would be cool to have a build calculator or something available to display also. It was a little hard for me to follow the trait allocations while watching it live, for example. I’d like to see more of that, or possibly going over some of your own builds, maybe focusing on a class and showing some different good builds for different situations (e.g. sPvP or WvW) and playstyles.

I also like hearing the little bits about metagame kind of stuff, like Matt talking about the Bull Charge->Frenzy->Hundred Blades Warriors.I guess that would fall under the general category of talking about balance, and might have to wait until release when we get a chance to develop a metagame. But, I’m looking forward to hearing more of that kind of talk, as well.

  • Nut Bunnie

I look forward to more of these eipsodes as GW2 goes Live.

  • http://gameldar.posterous.com Gameldar

Yay you answered my question about race size advantages – thanks for asking it Garry :)

  • Cptnchaos2914

Decent show. The only thing that threw it off for me was that when it came to analyzing the build of the mesmer, the talent commentary was great, but when it came to commentating the gameplay of the build in action, the show took a sharp turn away from that specific area and turned into analyzing the idiosyncrasies of pug pvp.

It wasn’t “Hey remember the mind rack ability we were talking about and the dodge rolling to proc images…THIS IS IT!!!”. It was more like “Looks like the blue team is outnumbered. SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!!!”. I had more of the expectation of the work Ed has done in his own pvp videos.

Still I <3 Gamebreaker and look forward to see this show evolve.

How would 5 Mesmers do in structured? Thats a lot of clones to deal with???

why cant i watch this? it wont play.

I’m so happy you all talked about mesmers. I fell in love with them this BWE. Made a Charr Mesmer, never looked back. Also, the portal spell is going to be extremely useful in PvP, mark my words.

  • http://twitter.com/triggerhippy Grace

Loved the show!! Glad you are doing it.  Like the crew too. Hopefully we will see more of Karina (sp?) next time.

Just a request: Please upload the eps as quick as you can to iTunes since I usually have to catch up on the road.

curious why a mesmer build that appears to be all about ‘spawn a clone, shatter clone’ isn’t using a scepter when it gives a free clone every third auto attack.

  • http://www.facebook.com/djlanders020 Dave Landers

Fantastic job, guys. Great potential here. I like the “Build of the Week” idea a lot. I  think the match breakdown will get better and better as the broadcast team gets more in sync. I look forward to watching this show each week to get tips and ideas on builds. Thanks for giving me something else to watch while I’m supposed to be working…

League of Legends is the most poorly balanced game ever created. They all just fucking lleach money making new OP champs.

    • http://twitter.com/ron6405 mouse

well i agree they make the new champion little op at first but they did good job balancing their champion.

  • http://www.facebook.com/oneniisama Bear Powell

Love the new show and look forward to some more informed opinions as the non-beta information trickles in. Also, the show does need Mike B.

  • http://www.facebook.com/gurome09 Ömer Gürlek

I’d say the Mesmer build showcased was pretty sub-par. As it is mentioned, he invests in Illusion damage, while going for a Shatter heavy build, just wasting some traits in the process. Also, the +50 Precision on Sword and Spear is basically useless, because Greatsword does not even count as a Sword.

  • Selona83

    Great show. Learnt a lot:)

  • Omegahty

I was seriously disappointed and confused when Mike B wasn’t on it…Not that Matt, Ed or Christina are bad, I just expected Mike B to be on the show.

Matt has lost some weight since I followed his swtor stream last winter. Looking good bro

As other have pointed out, more Mike B and it would be epic.

Otherwise a pretty good show, you guys were brutal on Green though, I thought he done a decent enough job. Hope to god you don’t pick my videos now as I rarely care for the objective in my pugs. I was just face stomping on getting face stomped.

Looking forward to episode 2! (Maybe a Necro one? =D)

  • http://twitter.com/mjedwards15 Mathew Edwards

I might be being an idiot here (probably am, I’ve never really gone too deep into PvP in any game at all) but is there some special reason why he only used 65 of his 70 trait points? Seems a little wasteful to me to just leave them there not doing anything when he could have increased his toughness a little by investing into chaos.

  • Florian Dors

This show was rly great till u choose the vid of a rly poor mesmer. I mean he has bad traits (5 points not spend), going for condidtion without cond dmg, thworing his sword 5 consistant into. plx next time a better vid. i wanna see someone who playes better or on a even lvl with me not such bad gameplay (i consider myself pretty noobish but this is too much)

  • SanekB

Here is how i would have analysed his build because oh boy there were some obvious holes in it.

First of all he didnt spend all his trait points which others have mentioned, dont know how the player overlooked this one. There is absolutely no reasonable argument to not use all your points. I’ll give the panel a free pass on this for missing it because its their first show and we all still need to learn (but really, homework people).

Now the aside from the fact he picked steady weapons i dont have anything to point out equipment whise. The crit idea is solid, adding to that the added damage from the bleeds is just an easy next step.

The traits however are just lackluster and dont follow a good line. If you’re going for lots of mind wracks you basically dont care how much damage your illusions do since you’ll be shattering them anyways (besides its only really important for phantasm build which this build clearly isnt). So trow empowered illusions out of the build pronto. Sharper Images is fine because even if the illusions only inflict bleeding once before you shatter them its added damage/pressure.
Blade training is another stupid thing to take since he doesnt have a sword equiped. Yes a sword is a different weapon from a greatsword, both have their own traits and they dont benefit from each others traits. (I however would swap the staff for a sword and take focus or pistol as an offhand since both their phantasms have many hits = more bleeds).

Ed said that he would trow out the greatsword for a sword because it has more hits. Now this is actually not true. The auto-attack of the greatsword (and therefore its clones) hit 3 times in one attack, giving you more chance to crit/apply bleeding. And in a power based build the added vulnerability from its 3 skill can become very useful.

Ed kept saying that creating an illusion breaks the targeting but this is really not true. I think he encountered this problem because he didnt have ‘lock on target’ activated in the options menu. Without this the game just picks the closest target to you when you use a skill. Even if he did use it he must have been doing something wrong ^^. You guys also kept saying he was going for a condition build but that really wasnt the case. His main damage comes from the crits, the bleeding is just there for an added bonus. Not the other way around. Oh and Matt, confusion really isnt the main focus of mesmers unless you specifically spec for it, which he sure as hell didnt (aside from Illusionary Retribution which is a minor skill anyways).

I’m not gonna comment on how the guy played any more then this: standard mesmer play of somebody who doesnt really grasps the class.

Also dont forget to point out the slot skills of builds, since these can really make up for a glass-cannon build or even decide a lot how a build gets played (mantras for mesmers come to mind).

  • laurent.baertsoen

First show is always difficult, it’s not routine yet but they did great.  I like where this is going!  Really liked what Ed and Matt contributed. Especially Ed, he can explain stuff in a calm, structered and informative way.  Don’t think Carina fits this particular show though (given the quality of preperation and given input), i would prefer contributions by Mike B or Elixabeth. Offcourse there is Gary, show wouldn’t work without him. He knows perfectly how to structure/guide the conversations/dialogues and does it GOOD humor. Matt should do something aboout the quality of his webcam though.  Contentwise: I hope they can cover a class every week and not only limit it to pvp.  On a personal note i would really be interested in how they would dissect the Ranger class (i’m still on the fence if i should roll one or not).

  • tsuroyu

Definitely bring Taugrim back to the show again. His commentary is on point, and substantive. Good show, I look forward to following future episodes.

  • tommythepower

So both Tamgros and Taugrim were not good enough for rated in SWTOR ? so they left and blamed players in the guild leaving and are now moving on to GW2. Well well. When S1 start in swtor thats when we will see who is the best on the servers.Sad Maven dident want to be apart of that. And now when servers are full and seeing a influx of new players this is the time.Sad when players jump ship. Think both of them are nice guys and alot of fun.But they jumped ship from Rift to SWTOR and now to GW2, when will they move on from GW2….Btw i have GW2, in beta and game is not in any way good enough to move to. PvP is easy to easy and without a trinity a joke to be honest, only good about GW2 is the WvW that could be fun and fresh the first weeks after the game is out.

    • tsuroyu

    • Arkanthos

you lost credibility when u said PvP is easy to easy m8:)

  • TheHolgar

Great show guys – the more of Guildwars2 the better. :)

  • dewiehajek

Loved the show, Though the mesmer made a couple mistakes in my opinion. And It even looked at times he was a clicker? Anyway. He always goes too close in range with his greatsword which lowers his damage and he never uses his 3 to initiate for the vulnerability and his 4 on Greatsword is pretty much up all the time. Being focused on an illusion build, that shouldn’t happen. And at the end, when he got pounded by the warrior he didn’t bother to kite at all with his Greatsword 5 and 4, which I thought was a little bit odd. But hey. Still enjoyed the show alot. Keep it up.

  • http://twitter.com/Patrikules Patrick Hargan

warriors and rangers with 18+ stacks of might were absolutely destroying everything.  other classes like the engineer can’t stack on might past 5 while these classes can get 20+.. that was the biggest balance buster i found all weekend

The Mesmer you guys looked at had only spent 65 trait points and did barely any damage, also Mike B please not Carina, other than that great show.

I am also surprised MikeB isn’t on this show? He’s always come across as a PvP-centric guy so I feel that his input would be very beneficial to a show of this nature. The girl (Carina?) didn’t seem to know she was talking about much, or maybe she was simply nervous.

Regardless, looking forward to next episode

Carina disappeared early in the show (aliens) before she had a chance to wow us with her PvP tactics and build math, so who knows whether or not she has a lot to offer the show? Stupid aliens. (You can tell it was those crop-circle aliens because they had to bang on the door until someone turned the doorknob for them.)

I would like to see some of the calculus-based statistical reasoning Ed puts into his builds.  This, kids, will add value to all your builds…take the time to learn.  Ed! Don’t hold back on us man, I know you know what I’m talking about!  I use a modified version of taugrim’s keybinds and it was very well worth the two weeks to relearn.  Have the aliens cloned Gary? He is everywhere!!  Where’s Mike B?

I can understand for a first time someone can be a bit nervous on the show,
but I don’t  know about Corina her insight in this..I don’t have to watch the show to know what she is telling +the noise was annoying.
Maybe she deserves another chance if she prepares herself a bit.
Overall I think the show topics can be better organized too, other guests were just fine
It went pretty well for a first time

also could you guys talk about 1 prof each week in dept?

@Gary Gannon, you do a great job hosting the various podcasts. I would like to point out two things.

    1) Sometimes, as you’re talking, your voice gets lower and lower… making it difficult to follow what you are saying without turning up the volume…
    2) Please try not to SUDDENLY raise your voice (like @ 52:59). It always startles the bejeezus outta me… and the loud noise ain’t so great @ 1:00am, when everyone else is sleeping (espc. got me in hot water when you were playing that dubstep music in other ‘casts). TY

Now I’ve gotten to watch it a couple of times, I thought it was good start.
I like how Ed adds in just some basic PvP info for people.A good show formula is some info for the newbee’s, some info for the mid level, some info for the pro’s.
The analysis was alittle long for the show I thought, if your watching a whole tournament match and stopping for analysis, well that’s a whole show by itself(look at Day9).
If you want to keep it in the format though, personally I would, watch and analyse beforehand, make notes and choose what you want to teach the audience, skip to specific parts and explain why we are watching this 20 sec clip, and how it makes your point, and helps teach a concept.
Looking forward to some more of it though, keep up the good work.

Please have better people on the show, the girl is just annoying.

Do the bouncing between targets with the 2nd skill of the greatsword and first of the staff, count as additional hits for crit chance (and the added effects with this build) and the original target damage is seperate or if the first hit is a crit, the sequential bounces have the same damage inflicted to the other targets? Or do other targets have no crit damage on them and it’s only the first target?

I hope that made sense. The reason I ask is I play a Mesmer with scepter/pistol and staff and I may boost the staff more as the default weapon if the bounces count and I could get more bleed damage on.

    • Arkanthos

yeh it only works for 1 handed sword, also he used steady weapons which do 10x less dmg than normal pvp weapons:P

You got chuck norris on your show?!

  • Pitrelli KTC

This show is screaming out for mike b

  • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

wow ya these hosts are not taking it serious enough with the noises and mic issues… def not up to the normal GBTV shows you have. Hope you can fix things on that front, cause the content was decent otherwise.

great show!  I love the in depth focus over the usual press release talking point/opinion focus.

also as much as I enjoy what MikeB does, based on his previous work that I’ve seen I’m not sure he’ll bring the level of analysis this show needs.  not that he’s not smart and good at pvp but he tends to take everything to a comedic level when it seems we want to get down to facts and theory crafting here

  • Jason Haverfield

Nice but lets talk warrior and engineer now!

  • http://www.facebook.com/TheEregos Matthew North

Great show but its hindered by the two guests of the show (not Taugrim). They were great info wise etc but there mics and webcams are just terrible lol.

  • Randall_Wolfcry

Unfortunate that someone seemed to be banging on the Aussie’s door? I’m not sure what all the banging was about but it made me want to go angry-face on whoever was making that racket!

  • Jediwolf

PvP sucks balls in most games but not in GW2. Still wont catch me playing PvP though. I did however enter dub v dub the one time, eternal battlegrounds Umbra wood , Tame a grey wolf, GTFO. Curse you arenanet for making me run all that way when theres a wolf shrine at Hoelbrak. Great show keep up the lack of chubby and it should be awesome

  • Snoover

It says the video is not found! :(

Can you upload it again, please??
