Not Quite The End Of Guild Wars 2 Culling - GuildCast Ep 65 (Video)

This week on GuildCast, the gang discusses the changes that will be made to Guild Wars 2 culling, world boss loot, pvp and more.

So, it looks like players read a bit more into the getting rid of Guild Wars 2 culling thing than was really there. According to Colin Johanson:

The initial release of this system will be for WvW only. There are additional complications we need to solve with PvE due to the number and variety of creatures on screen that WvW doesn’t need to account for. Later this year, we’ll be expanding as much of the changes to the PvE open world as we can as well.

So for now, the end of Guild Wars 2 culling is for PvP, PvE is something they’re looking into, but that’s something we can expect at a later date and it may not be nearly as encompassing.

World boss loot.

There are some changes to world boss loot coming in the next  update. According to lead designer Isaiah Cartwright, players can expect adjustments in the way that the world mega bosses award their loot. In order to continue to provide rewarding loot for mega bosses without overcrowding boss fights, the team has decided that each boss’ guaranteed rare item drop will be moved to a separate chest than regular chests and make them be acquirable once per day across a player’s account.

All that an more.

We also have some more PvP info as well as a discussion on the smaller update plan.

Of course, we also love receiving  your questions. If you have a question to send to the crew, you can send it to submit@gamebreaker.tv. And, if you want to make a video question, be sure it’s around 30 seconds long and you send us a YouTube link.

And, as always… If you missed last week’s episode, be sure to check it out here.

Come on Guild Cast. You are so ridiculously apologetic when it come to ANet. Have you already forgot that we didn’t have many problems with culling in pve few months ago? And now everything is fine when ANet says they might fix it this year. they broke it in the 1st place not too long ago.

Haven’t had a chance to watch the episode yet (at work and missed it last night), but I heard Liz got her legendary, huh? Congrats!

So are they ever going to protect the economy by fixing the botters spaming nodes pop in farm and leave?

I can’t speak for every server, but personally, I haven’t seen that happen in months.

      • djjazzy

I’ve seen it a few times this week on Yak’s Bend.

Why you have a person that openly admits they don’t PvP commenting on PvP balance is beyond any comprehension.

They don’t need to roll out eSports PvP immediately in order to “bring players back” – look at League of Legends, they launched without it and look where they are at now. All GW2 needs to do is have some nice juicy prize money and competitive players will be all over it.

Gary, you gotta check out the Wheel of Time audiobooks on Audible. It’s a great series, started in 1990, and just finished in January of this year, and has outlived it’s original author. The audiobooks on Audible total 461 HOURS, 25 minutes. It’s totally better than GoT in my opinion. The author that finished the last 3 books of Wheel of Time, Brandon Sanderson, has several other AWESOME books on Audible, and releases books like a machine. The first book of his new series, Way of Kings, totals 45ish hours, and has the same great narrators as the Wheel of Time books.

Totally agree with you Absolem. WoT is much better also very different.

WoT completely blew after book 6. Book 7 until Jordan died were horrible. Essentially, only read to book 6 and then skip every book until Jordan dies and Sanderson takes over.

      • http://twitter.com/Darkdrakke Alberto

hell yeah after 6 it seems Jordan was just writing crap/filler to make a paycheck. Sanderson redeems the entire series again .

Hmmm.. I couldn’t get into Eye of the World. I just couldn’t make myself give a shit about the characters. But that’s just me.. Maybe I should give it another shot /shrug

      • http://twitter.com/Darkdrakke Alberto

Those are some great char, they are basically kids that transform into some incredible people later on give it a 2nd shot at least the 1st 2 books…the middle books like 6 thru 8 are trash then Sanderson last 3 fix a lot of the problems.

Also where the Ready Player One Luv!1 Its right up Gary alley worldwide MMO. Griefing, Hackers , trolls…!

My feeling about engineers and grenades is that (to my knowledge) grenades are the only real AoE option that engineers have. So if they’re doing too much single target damage, I could see some use in balancing that. That would seem to be more of a “make each group of grenades affect a target only once” sort of thing.

If I hear something about consuming media critically from Elix again I’m going to barf. Hindsight is always 20/20…

  • Glitterfury

So do you guys feel like morons now that they announced the BIG PATCH for March?

  • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Gratz Elizabeth on the legendary, Well deserved.

This is not the end of culling. Culling in video games is the removal of graphical elements. So, while this will be an improvement, it’s not the end of excessive culling.

Not sure why the big patch vs. small patch is a thing. I don’t think players were asking Arenanet to sit on updates waiting for a big patch. Sounds more like players are asking for major revamps of sections of the game.

    • Luto Locke

Yeah once the culling issue is taken care of people will begin to complain on the low fps because they wont want to turn down their graphics. =/

GW2 is full with bugs, in some areas there is like 3-4 buged events, NPCs stuck, or they dont move just talk…will they fix that cose its nuber of bugs going up!

  • http://twitter.com/JerryWheatfield Jerry Wheatfield

If Liz is short for Elizabeth, does that mean Lix is short for Elixabeth?

    • Roy

      I’ve often wondered that, myself.

  • samysnes

Elizabeth looking cute as usual! Garry being funny as usual and Richie being joyful as usual!

  • http://twitter.com/thavleifrim nathan law

even nameplates only would be better than what we have now, ive lost 80% of my health before even seeing nameplates at times in current wvw.

  • Luto Locke

Grats on the Legendary Elizabeth! I have just started working on mine last week… wasn’t sure if I wanted it or not and finally broke down and decided to go for it! I was torn because being the thief that I am I was unhappy in the lack of a thief type legendary. Flaming daggers it is then!

Guesting has to be removed for the lagging to go away in World Boss fights.
