In this week’s episode of GuildCast our hosts talk about some insane individual getting the first underwater legendary weapon, Halloween costumes in the gem shop and why Peter Fries thinks too many people are playing human characters.

Join GAMEBREAKER’s Gary Gannon and Massively‘s Richie Procopio and Elisabeth Cardy for all this and more.

I`ve seen more rats, I mean Asuran then Human.
Charr (& I imagine Norn) are too huge for the game.
Jumping puzzles, any cave etc is a nightmare ;)

Why is GuildCast getting so short? There is a shit load of stuff to discuss, I still love the show and all other shows, but this one is falling too short and could be MUCH better!

Like it was at the start!

longer episodes please!!  the good old days of an hour was great

Agreed!   I was surprised how quick this ep was.  Does Scott really take up that much time with Guardian talk? lol

if your spending 2 gold for swapping traits then i feel bad for you elixabeth.. it costs about 3.5-5 silver (if you read what the trainer has to say)

I think she was exaggerating for effect.  But, the idea is the 3-5 silver adds up over time.

Hidden content should be a minority. only a small portion of the comunity will find it in game, the rest of us will read about it on forums/reddit.

Takes away the thrill of discovery. If you find it yourself rather than read about it on a website, it feels more like a personal experience than a programmed event that will inevitably repeat for total strangers completely independent of your actions. Just the fact that it’s on a website proves to your subconscious that it has happened before and is well-documented, and therefore it isn’t a secret and you’re not special. That may be true regardless, but if you’ve never heard of something before you find it, it kind of seems special. If you read about it first, you know beyond any semblance of doubt that someone else has been there and done that.

There’s an analogy here that I’m not going to make. But if you find it on your own– to quote Foreigner– “It Feels Like the First Time.”

Now ask yourself. ANet says: We added 10 new evets to the game. the end. They might have added those to low lvl zones. If you are high lvl player you will probably never see those events b/c even if you make an alt you probably won’t remember all events in the game so those new ones will feel the same as the old ones. Are you seriously going on a hunt to find those? The chances are you will see about those events on some site before you find them in game.
Imo complete waste of time for most players.

But that is all in the eye of the beholder so to speak. You may feel that way, but I do not. I play games to have a fun and relaxing experience. If I want to follow a
written guide step by step, I will (and have done for many, many
games), and it has never lessened the experience for me. You see, I
don’t play games to have my existence validated by others who are also
playing the game, so I want options to play the way I want, when I want and how I want. You want the thrill of discovery – good for you. That does nothing to enhance my experience, so don’t need it, nor do I want it.

Personally, I don’t need something to be secret and special in order to feel good about myself when playing a game. If the gameplay is good, I don’t care how many people have done the same thing before me or will do it afterwards. Kind of like the whole e-peen thing. Good for “Aquaman” that he had oodles of time and dedication to get the first Underwater Legendary. I don’t care. If that was something I was interested in doing, then I would do it for my own self-satisfaction, and if every legendary was available in the BLTP, then I would still do it the way I felt like doing it at the time. It doesn’t lessen my experience one whit if someone uses an “easy button” throughout the whole game, as long as the game gives me the option to play the way I want to.

So, I am one of those who want the fanfare and want to know exactly where to go and when so I can experience the content in a manner and time of my own choosing. As long as players such as yourself have the option to keep the spoilers away from themselves, then I see no problem with that.

There are options to find out the “details” via various web sites, blogs and forums, including the official forums as many people can’t wait to tell you all about what they found. Hell, Google anything and you’ll find it.  However, if it’s slammed into our faces right at the beginning with lots of “fanfare” then there is no option for those who like to discover things themselves. And yes, some of us will in fact run through multiple zones looking for new stuff.

Does Gary have like a plus 15 to youtube surfing or something?? Because he can pull up the appropriate trolling video in like no time flat.

I’ve actually had people stop me and ask where I got my outfit before. I wear my ‘town cloths’ on my female Norn Thief most of the time while in town. Unfortunately whenever I take fall damage (which is often, I RP as a thief and therefor prefer roofline transit) a get flipped back into my combat gear… which I can do nothing about and *really* annoys me.

  • Sklys

At this stage of the game, I see more humans in town and charrs in the field. The asuras are
about even in both, with the other two races bringing up the rear but seen in both areas. It
seems to me that the higher areas have more charrs but like I said  “at this stage of the game”
As for cut sceens, I like the GW1 sceens more than the GW2 sceens but that is IMO only.
A underwater city is an intrusting idea, we will just have to wait and see what A-Net comes
    up with.

The discovery card adds are annoying. :)

Why does the audio suck? X_x

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/R62C4GGN6O5EKYOMEDK2ZFDW5U Exodus

The audio in this episode was terrible. Good discussion though. Elixabeth is hot. =)

    • http://www.facebook.com/ZealsnKioK Anthony Davis

pretty sure everyone thinks elixabeth is “hot”….. if not just from the actual visual aspect of her which is very good, her body would be considered “hot” more to the point her personality is simply amazing she is obviously a very nice person, plays games and loves them, and she is just one of those people who just make you happy her voice and comments simply make u happy.

  • DoctorOverlord

    Good episode everyone!
Looking forward to seeing what the do for Halloween.   And I’m really enjoying the asura storyline but I only have 1 asura and 2 human characters so I’m helping to skew the population :)

I agree completely about the ability to save build templates!   That would be so much more convenient.

And yowch, I’m now glad I never actually watched Batman and Robin.
