That doesn’t make any sense. Blizzard has setup a competition vs set time goals, setting gold, silver and bronze medals times. The in-game UI displays the top realm time and guild time, with external leaderboards.

Now, you do have a good idea for weekly tournament play. You could set one hour for tournament play and allow teams to run as many Challenge Mode runs as possible in the one hour, At the end of the hour, you could award prizes based on the top runs during the scheduled hour.

  setting times is good to know what to aim but still only 3 top places should get medals not everyone who just passed setup time mark. Challenge modes are races there is only one winner, biggest loser and 3rd guy. More people would take active part in CM not just get “x”th gold medal and leave it.

I don’t buy on release because so many people are grinding, doing quests, trying to get to lvl 90 as fast as possible. I hate the cluster fuck of people everywhere, so i would rather buy the game a week later,.. as i did with this expansion.

Cata might hold the record for most sold, but I bet mop will beat that. I think people held back from mop week 1 because cata put such a bad taste in peoples mouth that they where holding back from buying mop the first week

I think blizzard should treat challenge modes like pvp. Why not have challenge mode and rated challenge modes for the more hard core players and guilds?

it’s week after MoP release and leveling zones in pandaria are already dead… I don’t get it why blizz put so much in leveling instead put that effort to lv 90 content. I saw reckful stream, he is pvp player, before seasion he farmed bgs, now after caping weekly arenas he sit in org, play typeracer, guitar, talk about stuff with chat… tons of expansions, sub fee and… for what. It’s sad that pvp players are treated like that. It would be great if PvP aspect of the game (arenas/bg) was F2P, something like special toon for pvp only.

  On my server you will find the players in the level 90 content, which has an amazing amount of content. I’m also finding a ton of gamers in Outlands, that world is overun with Pandaran Monks and Blood DKs.
  
  Give them time, the WoW gamers are busy on their mains, the alt will eventual level. I don’t think there is a need to lock WoW players in a MOBA style lobby system. There are good games out there that offer special characters for PvP.

  Some countries, like China, do not pay for the expansion.. They’re laws make it so that when an expansion comes out they just keep paying there sub and they get that crap free.. Blizzard gives all the chinese players free expansions, no joke..

    China just got Cataclysm not that long ago and won’t get MoP for a while. They represent, I believe, half the WoW player base. That is why the 2.7 number is actually still very good.

      China got MoP recently. In fact China got MoP one or two days before Blizzard released their PR statement
      
      And like Blaze says the asian market don´t pay subs or for the expansion and they are the majority of the “subs” counted.
      
      And sure not everyone gets the expansion but the vast majority does and the majority does so the first days. For instance for Cataclysm day one sales were more than 50% of the total sales of that game during two years of sales.

        The press release covers the week before the Oct 2 release in China. It also mentioned increased subs in all major regions. Have to wonder if Mist will have a slow growth throughout the expansion. Will be interesting to see Blizzard releases the account activity for the China release of Mists.

There is another group of people being left out in the MoP sale discussion. Its those of us who are still actively playing but don’t need it right now. I have an 85 to level to 90, but I really don’t want to right now. I have rolled a Pandaren without MoP, but its a drag. Its almost as if none of the other classes belong on a Pandaren. I rolled a hunter but its just weird, so I probably won’t play it much past lvl 10. I have been paying more attention lately to the base of my game by building up professions and have those professions, level with me.

Don’t forget, Christmas is soon and I know that’s when I really intend on having MoP, at the latest. I am willing to bet there are more of us out there than anyone.

After hopping from Rift to Swtor to GW2, I am gonna reapp to WoW. I will still play GW2 since WvW is hella fun and no sub makes it a perfect game. But I am missing raiding and just the trinity. I healed for years in WoW and healed in Rift and Swtor. The Rift Xpacs looks OK, but I am kinda thinking I trust Blizz more going forward. Maybe that is just a little bit of a backlash after Swtor making me a sad-face. Pet battles, challenge modes, and all the 5 man, raiding , and PVP looks like some great content I am looking forward to.

I love the idea of rewarding loyal players. I’ve been playing non-stop since launch. Heck, i was in the pre-alph friends/family. Never once have i stopped my subscription. I think they should reward us loyal people.
