Legendary 82: I Hear You Like Valor

Blizzard continues to add new stuff to the Mist of Pandaria.

On the PvE front, testers battled raid bosses, and of course, leveled in Panderia. With each new PvE experience added to World Of Warcraft, Blizzard is adding valor points. What with all these valor points? Well that’s the question, really. We don’t exactly know why this currency is given out like candy, but it seems that everything you do will gain valor: challenge-mode dungeons, scenarios, quest, your mom, and raids — but nothing PvP related. *Sad face* Why does Blizzard hate PvP?

World of Warcraft is busting with news this week, from raids to valor to achievement to transmogs. We have four experts in the studio to dissect all this info: Gary Gannon, Josh Allen, Mike B, and (surprise!) Mike Schaffnit. To get the most out of your WoW, tune into Legendary!

The story is kinda slow, but the gameplay is good.  Dular is Team Mogu. Down with the Pandas, Mogu rules.

New “Annual Pass”: Recieve Mists of Pandaria Collectors Edition for Free (Digital Edition).

I’m not sure if the “Annual Pass” didn’t get a bit of a bad rep from all the Diablo issues (and from the lack of updates in WoW).

I’m with Fony; I think MoP will be free for anyone with Cataclysm. As long as it manages to hold players for more than 3 months, that’s worth more to Blizzard than the risk of losing subscribers if they ask them to pay for the expansion.

The lack of updates in wow that Blizzard said there wouldn’t be in the first place?

        • Old Ben

Most people who paid for the annual pass were expecting MoP to go live before the pass ended. Blizzard said there wouldn’t be any extra updates (i.e., the Cataclysm equivalent of Ruby Sanctum) because the wait for MoP after Dragon Soul would be shorter than the wait for Cataclysm after ICC.

Huh…? If a guy’s job is to design paladins, and someone else manages to think about paladins mechanics more than he does, then maybe it’s time to hire that other person…?

I know Blizzard is losing subscriptions, but they can probably still afford to employ 10 assistant designers to focus on each class (if that’s what it takes)…

On the comment lore made about leaving raids open I completely agree, honestly I hope they can find a good solution to limit how many bosses any individual player can see… let different players test different bosses i dont know…

on the crowd sourcing thing – i completely agree.  While game designers should and do get most things in thier game.. you have to remember no matter what there are only so many game designers working on class design, where as there are millions of people playing those classes and thousands who do decent theory crafting, it would be foolish to think that out of those thousands some one wouldn’t be able to come up with at least a few balance things with the numbers that the devs missed.

About Decline in excitement for mop… I do think part of that comes from outside sources, there are a lot of good mmos which have been released since cataclysm, and others that are on the horizon.  Personally I have been more excited for GW2 than MoP… but that wont last im sure

If you want to check it out, Parks and Recreation is on Netflix. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes not so much.

what about no lifers like me who will do all the randoms for the week in one day then start going after challenge mode dungeons, then go take our scenarios, then finally do my dailies each day.

I agree with Lore in most cases, but I heartily disagree with him saying Cata flopped because of the initial difficulty. That decline went on over a long period of time, well after the nerfs to the five-mans went out.

I think there were some Wrath babies who came in after the new randomizer was implemented in that expansion, who were used to only supereasymode stuff like what Wrath had, that might have left after the rest of us were stoked about having challenges again, but after that, I think it was mostly people burning out on WoW because WoW was easy enough on each level to just coast through it. No more challenges = no more urge to play WoW.

I, for one, was stoked that I could get a bit of a challenge out of even the five-mans (unless I ran them with guild, then they were still a tad too easy, but the pugs were usually full of eager beavers wanting to CC and strategize and stuff, which I loved). I hope that there’s plenty of challenge when the ninja teddy bears roll out. Might cancel again for a while if it’s so easy that you can flatten everything without paying much attention again.
